We started the season with 50 girls en- rolled, but finished with 16 faid1ful girls. Our coach Eunice King, did a fine job of coaching, when it was most needed. We girls appreciated her kindness. Q We started our year of basketball by play- ing Clayton on their court. Everyone played well, and we won 15 to 8. Then Dec. 15 we tried to defeat St. Joseph but didn't quite succeed, however we only lost by 5 points. Jan. 9 Clayton came here and again they were defeated 14 to 9. Jan. 16 Deerfield really made us play to our best ability to take the game by 2 points. Feb. 9 we went to Sand Creek. That night everyone had the good old fighting spirit and we walked away with the ganr 22 to 9. Feb. 15, St. Joseph girls came back and we turned the tables on them., to de- feat them for the first thne in 5 years, which made all of us happy. Our last game was play- ed in Deerfield Feb. 25. Up to this tine we had only lost one game and were tied with the Deerfield girls for the trophy. We all played hard but were unable to defeat them on their court, so they won the trophy for 1959-40. I We enjoyed this year and are looking for- ward to next year. Although some of us wi .. be leaving, we wish the girls team of 1940 5: the best of luck Elizabeth A 1 ,, ,uk V-ir., 4.
