5' 1 I G U s U What ear has not quickened at the sound of drums and the blare of instru A nts approaching in the distance? 5 'hw Q y 1- ul 3 Q ' ere is something about the flesh of O 1 i u n 1 ? i Y k color and the martial sound of a band thatsets feet tapping end quickens the pulses of young ard old el ike. The On- sted School Band with its purple and gold uniforms is a band thf-t Onsted may well be proud of. During the past yeer the band has played for school activities, fairs, giv- en ccncerts and participated in two fest- ivals. At the beginning of the year the band joined the Jackson' County Music Association. This association organized a Jackson County All-Star Band which meets at different places each month. The Onsted Band had the pleasure of send- ing the following players: Kathryn Rey- nolds, Norene Kne pp, and Doris Large, Clarinetsg Donna Redfield, Trumpetg Gor- don Willierrs , Baritoneg Rmnona Stoddard, Fluteg Wanda Francis, Piccolog and Dale Redfield, Drums. . The highlights of the bands activ- ities are the music festivals held in the spring. The bend entered two: The Lenawee County Music Festival, and the State Music Festival at Ann Arbor. The band played at several P.T.A. meetings during the past year. We played for 4-H Achievement Day held in Adrien, April 5.
