In many respects our days at Valley will linger with us throughout life. As we prepare to leave our beloved Valley it is with mingled gladness and sadness that we gaze into the crystal ball that holds our future. The memories that we take with us will give us additional inspiration and desires to bring greater fame to ourselves for our faithful teachers and friends remaining at Valley. Although our days here are numbered, we, the Class of '56, feel that the Moments to Remember acquired at Valley will outlast our fondest dreams and hopes that we may gather through our future years. Q ieulio Mr. David Blandford, a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy, has been employed by the Board of Education since 1939. Before becoming custodian of our school in 1952 he held the position of fireman and assistant custodian. Mr. Blandford has taken an unceasing interest in our school building and our school activities and sports. In addition to keeping our building in the best of condition, he has zealously supported the hockey team. Always cheerful and ready when needed, to Dibby Blandford the graduating class .of 1956 proudly and gratefully dedicates its Annual. He was assisted by Mr. john Garfola and Mr. Bud Hudson. This year's team was very young and composed of very few veterans, but the newcomers were very eager to learn. It took a great deal of hard work on the part of both players and coaches to field a good team. In the opening game against C.B.A. the inexperience of the boys showed as they were turned back 30 to 0. The team settled down after this and played a very good game against Vocational but were held to a 6-6 tie. In the third game the team suffered a loss to Eastwood by a score of 19 to 6. In the fifth game the team lost a close 7 to 6 decision to a strong Nottingham team. The final city league game was well played 26 to 8 over North. After the regular season the team went to Rome and suffered a 34 to 0 defeat by Rome Free Academy. Bob Hall was the only Valley player to make the first string All City Team. Other players mentioned in All City were jerry Alvarez, Pete Siravolo, jack Fifneld, George Plavocos, john Whyland, Tom Furze and Dick Baranello. Some of the boys expected to carry the load next year are: Pete Siravolo, Ed Little, and Vahan Khanzadian. BASKETBALL Valley's Basketball team, coached for the third straight year by Mr. Walter Bolen, had another successful season. They wound up with ten wins and four losses, which put them in third place behind C.B.A. and Central, and also put them in the playoffs. In the first half of the season Valley won six out of seven losing only to Central. At mid-term the team was very hard hit by ineligibilities. In the second half Coach Bolen did an excellent job building a new team which made a very good showing by winning four out of seven. Bob Moore was the only boy from Valley to make the All City team. He made the first string even though he was only eligible for the first seven games. The members of this year's team who will not be back next year are: B. Moore, B. Hall, G. Hauman, J. Alvarez, G. Mishoe, C. Searle, D. Baranello, j. Whyland. Boys returning for next year's team are: E. Little, E. Burak, G. Burak, J. Francis, D. McConnell, N. Copanos, B. Brown, T. Foody, G. Paul. With all these returning veterans, and the fine coaching of Mr. Bolen, Valley is looking forward to an excellent season next year. U Valley ......................................
