gckforiagi 54 ANY of us who are graduafing will hold greafly enriched memories of our high school days because of fhe presence of one parficular feacher and friend, Miss Alma E. Hursf. Miss Hursf is planning fo refire from 'leaching in June affer having been a member of 'rhe Onondaga Valley Academy faculfy for I8 years as a Lafin feacher. ln becoming fhe advisor of fhe Annual Sfaff in I938, Miss Hursf fook upon herself an inconceivabl difficulf fask. The senior annual is fhe mosf exfensive proiecf carried ouf each year by Valley sfudenfs, and ifs marked success each year could nof have been achieved wifhouf her careful guidance and her knowledge of year book procedure. Those seniors of many graduafing classes who have been members of fhe Annual Sfaff under her direcfion have benefifed maferially from fhe iournalisfic experience if affords. By consisfenfly refusing any credif for her work, Miss Hursf has won fhe admira- fion of all fhe senior classes she has aided and fhe respecf of her fellow feachers and Mr. Powlesland. When she refires from Valley, she will leave behind her a vacancy fhaf will be difficulf fo fill. The enfire Class of l952 exfends fo Miss Hursf a wish fhaf she may experience many years of happiness in her refiremenf. ...Q-igbj-Q... jg N fhe course of many conversafions wifh our parenfs and older friends, QQ 'EK fhese words have offen been direcfed af our skepfical ears: Your high ff., G- . . ., . A- X-. school days are fhe happlesf days of your life. We have yef fo discover fhe frufh of fhese words, buf as 'lhe fime approaches when we musi' leave Valley, some fhoughf concerning whaf we have gained here in cifizenship, knowledge and friendship makes us realize fhaf fhese have indeed been rich and happy years. In viewing fhe world condifion polifically, fhe years ahead presenf a rafher unpromising picfure. Yef, if is we seniors who will be expecfed fo improve fhis picfure of chaos and dissension. The iob of keeping our nafion's peace secure will e our iob in fhe near fufure. Wifh our background of democrafic living here af Valley, we will leave, armed wifh an effecfive weapon wifh which we can confidenfly face fhe road ahead. All of us, by sfriving fo apply in every pafh we follow in fhe years fo come, fhe good cifizenship we have been faughf, can build a fufure which will make all our days fully as happy as'our high school days .
