' . . , . un , . . . , . , CLASS HISTORY The graduating class of 1955 began to organize its band many years ago when rt was very small It seems so long ago that rt has nearly been forgotten, but once again we recall it to memory When rt began to organize there were for the frrst rehearsal rn the central building Donna Curtis, Davrd Fenner, David F rsh, Mary jane Hay den Howard Houser, jo Ann Hull Edith Loader, Mary Perry Richard Ramsden, Bruce Saunders, Richard Sharpe, Janice Smith, and Anne Wheeler Meanwhile also at re tg, hearsal were Anna Bronner, Katherine hvans, julian Hall Mary Roberts, Donna Sager, Russell Smith, and Beverly Youker rn the Rockwell building Thus the rehearsal was under way for the big performance that seemed so far away, and each person was trying very hard to attain the knowledge to reach this goal As their band progressed many were added to their organization The first addition occurred in the thrrd year when john Madison yorned them, left rn the fourth Kay Evans grade and returned rn the sophomore year In the fourth Salu,o,omm year Linda Hay and Marcella Young joined the band fol lowed by Bernard Finlay in the fifth at the central buxldrng Then came along Anne Borce, Grant Powell, and Rosemary Parker rn the sixth grade Next came the seventh year when the Rockwell members made their way to the central building and they could all start rehearsing together for the performance which did not seem quite so far away now All had gone well for the first eight years of school and much knowledge had been gathered In the freshman year of the band s existence, Wrllram Adsrtt and Paul Luchsrnger were added was james Wheatly the Secretary was Stanley Ashmus and the Treasurer was julian Hall Mrss Deyo was the advisor of the band during the freshman year As sophomores the band s rehearsing continued, aided by Richard Russell who was a new comer They chose as leaders Katherine Evans, president Howard Houser, vice president, David Fish, secretary, and julian Hall treasurer once more Under the leadership of Miss Deyo the sophomore activities consisted of selling school supplies When they were juniors the band Cwrth Miss Deyo as their advrsorj had one more new member Stephen Ross They selected as leaders, Russell Smith, president Katherine Evans, vice presr dent Marcella Young, secretary and once again julian Hall, treasurer Their junior year was filled with activities for raising money for their trip to New York as seniors Among them were the sale of candy, hot dogs, and doughnuts and a bake sale Two dances for the purpose of making money were a Sadie Hawkins dance and a St Patrick s dance called the Shamrock Ball In addition they had a girls and boys basketball game and an Alumni Banquet. All can thank them for the junior-Senior Prom, Rhapsody rn Blue, which proved that they were not constantly at work raising money A trip to Fillmore Glen for a prcnrc was their reward for a year of hard work which all had enjoyed With the selection of class rings and the production of the Yearbook therr junior year of rehearsal came to an end and all looked forward to the Senior year which would be clrmaxed with the performance so long awaited I Q ' I , . . , I I I an ' 1 I , ' 1 - 'I I I . Bernie Finlay President Anne Wheeler Secretary Francis Linsky Vice President David Fenner Treasurer The Senior Band began leaming to march forthe first time this past year Every one worked hard and enjoyed it We played for the new Town Hall dedication at Onondaga Hill a Christmas concert for the elementary grades a P T A Christmas program and in the spring all members participated in the Spring Festival Members of the band represented the school in the All State Sectional Band, the All State Junior and Senior High School Bands and the All County junior High Band Several different types of music have been studied throughout the year with benefit to all ORCHESTRA Pamela Wilbur - President Nancy Amedro - Secretary Joan Loope - Vice President Carolyn Case - Treasurer Many new instruments have been added to the orchestra this year, horns, trom- bones, flutes, clarinet, and cello. The orchestra also has a string ensemble con- sisting of five violins, three cellos, and a viola. Programs for the elementary gradesin both buildings were presented and partici- pation in the All-County Festival was a new and exciting experience for the members.
