Selection of Courses Provision is thus made in the stated courses of study and in the requirements for diplomas for a wide individual choice. Students should be careful to select those subjects which will enable them to obtain the State Diploma and at the same time best tit them for whatever work they plan to take up after leaving school. lf a pupil intends to enter college or normal school, a copy of the entrance requirements should be obtained and work taken to meet these requirements. Parents should help their children decide what he is best titted to do. Decisions should not be forced upon the pupil, the student should be given the facts so he can reach an intelligent decision. lt should also be kept in mind that While only 16 units are required for a diploma, it is a much better plan to spend 4 or 4-M years in high school, graduating with 17 or 18 units than to try to earn 16 units in less than 4 years. Diploma Requirements There are new requirements which are effective for all students who registered Sep- tember, 1934, or since. Diplomas will also be issued on a basis of previous requirements to pupils now in school.
