Originality, Lungs Produce Novelty Rallies, Cheers Familiar sounds of B-E-A-T could be heard echo- ing through the halls every afternoon after 3:05, as the cheerleaders readied cheers and routines for pep rallies and games. The girls worked without an adviser until the second quarter, when Miss Frances johnson, mathe- matics teacher, took the advising duties. Originality was the trade mark of the strong- lunged girls, as they developed new routines and held several novelty pep rallies during the year. At the novelty pep assembly held before the first Norwich basketball encounter, the ball players and cheerleaders gave demonstrations of cheering from the caveman era to the rock 'n roll era. The par- ticipants did such a realistic job that students ask- ed for more assemblies of that kind. The cheerleaders sponsored several dances this year, including a Get Acquainted Dance, the an- nual Snow Queen Dance, and a Soc Hop.
