DUTSTANDING ATHLETES o5Qel2' g f MH The Varsity Club made up of athletes with letters, chose Carl Phillips, Presi- dentg john Perretta, Vice- Presidentg and Peter Perk- ins, Secretary-Treasurer. Programs for the home football games were sold as a money making project, and Capes for the team were purchased with the pro- ceeds. The club sent a sub- stantial gift to an injured player in White Plains. The year of '52-'53 found the club with the largest membership since its forma- tion. 42 JUNIOR ROTARIANS CID THE ROTARIANS Chosen by the Oneid Rotary Club, twelve Senim boys became Junior Rota ians for their last year z O.H.S. The boys attende the Friday meetings i groups of two. Ea:h grou went for one month, and : the last meeting, both Sen iors gave talks on the chosen vocations. The club also undertook a new project during the last school semester. It issued school news and activities for a High School page in the Oneida Daily Dispatch. Barbara Lomery, Kitty Carney, and Gail Peebles were selected as delegates from the Editorial Staff to accompany their advisor, Miss Madeline Raite, to the Empire State School Press Association which was held at Onondoga Hotel in the fall. To conclude a year of club activity, a banquet was held in june at which time awards were presented to the l953 staff members and secretarial group. The outgoing Editor was presented with a gold trophy, and the new staff was announced. The group owes much of its successful achievements to its advisor who contributed a great deal of her time to the benefit of the town paper publications. nrpna l Seated, L. to R.: Garofalo, DuBois, G. EFFICIENCY EXPERTS SOPHOMORE SCHOLARSHIP CLUB The Sophomore Scholarship Clul completed its fourth successful yeai under the guidance of a new advisor, Mrs. Viola Flynn. During the year, the group prepared for the New York State Scholarship exams and re- ceived helpful information from several guest speakers.
