At the age of six she moved to Benton, Kansas, and stayed there three years. She then moved to El-Dorado and attended grade school one year. She then returned to Oneida to finish her schooling. In 1 950 she entered the Onieda High School were she participated in athletics earning letters all four years. She took part in the Junior Play Everybody's Crazy Now in her Junior year. She has held the following offices while in school: Sec. of the Senior class and Treasurer of the Pep Club. Jerry Norton Jerry Norton was born in Falls City September 3, 1935, the son of Mr. Mrs. Byron Norton. I entered my freshman year at Seneca Public School. During the summer I moved to a farm South of Oneida and entered my Sophmore year at Oneida High School. I participated in athletics all three years, and held three offices in school, President my Sophmore year, Secretary my Junior year and Vice Pres. my Senior year. My Junior year I had a part in Everybody's Crazy Now BARBARA KING Barbara King was born April 13, 1936 on a farm near Goff, the daughter of Mre and Mrs. Lynn King. I attended Oak Grove School until my sixth year and the next year 1946 she entered the Oneida grade school. She entered high school in 1950 at Oneida. During her high school days she has participated in athletics all four years. she has played in two school plays “Just Ducky Freshman year and “Ryerones Crazy Now in her Junior year She held the following offices while in school President of Junior class and Sec. of Pep Club. Senior year she was President of Class and President of the v Pep “lub and Editor of the Cardinal, VADEN ALLEN vaden Allen was born on October 26, son of Mr. Mrs. Lynn Allen. I started my grade school days at Oneida, After the first year of school I moved to Newton and attended school three years, and returned to Oneida and entered the 5th grade and completed my school days at Oneida, Graduated from Oneida grade school in 1950 and entered Oneida High school in the fall. I have particapted in two school plays Just Ducky and Everyone Crazy Now , amias ALVIN BAUMAN, JR. Alvin Bauman Jr. was born December 14, 1935 on a farm Northwest of Oneida, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bauman. He spent his first eight years going to the country grade school in his district. Upon graduation he enrolled at Oneida High School and attended one year before enrolling at Sabetha. He attended one year in Sabetha.and transfered back to Oneida. He participated in atheltics at Oneida and earned two letters in basket- ball. He was in the Junior school play Every Body's Crazy Now , During his Senior year he held the job of editor of the Cardinal. SHIRLEY SPIELMAN Shirley Spjelman born on Oct. 29, 1935, in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. Mrs. Anthony Spielman. I lived at Centralia where I attended Dist. 43 for six years. I then entered Centralia High School until my Sophmore year where 1 entered at Oneida High School.I held the following offices: Sec Treas. of the Sophmore Class, Treas. the Junior Senior year and Society Hditor of the Cardinal. I participated in basket ball for three years, I was member of Glee Club Pep Club. In our school play Everybody's Crazy Now. After leaving high school I planned to do Secretary work, HISTORY The seven Freshmen of §0 and 51 were: Laura Smith, Barbara King, Vaden Allen, Alvin Bauman Jr., Raymond Hoover, Susan Hubert and La Rae Chandler, In the first few weeks of school we were. initiated, la Rae, Raymond, Buddy, and Barbara all wore gunny sacks, and green ribbons in there hair, bare footed, lots of make-up, uncombed hair, and an onion tied around there leg. Vaden: Wore a ladies night gown, green ribbon in curled hair, high heel shoes, lots of make-up, carried a doll and baby bottle. Laurat Wore overhalls and shirt backwards, lots of make-up and was barefooted. Susan was unable to be at initiation due to illness, The first half of the freshman year Laura Smith and Susan Hubert moved away from Oneida. Sophmore year Shirley Spielman, Jerry Norton and Wanda Baker entered our class, The last part of our Sophmore year Kathyrn Hittle and Dick Hittle joined us, During our sophmore year we elected class officers as follows: ; President------- weaenemderry Norton Vice President------ ---Raymond Hoover Secretaryenn--na-nenn-eeShirley Spielman Our Junior year we started with ten students, At the end of the 7th week “ick Hittle quit, Our officers in the junior year were: President---------= w=-==Barbara King Vice President-s---s-== Jerry Norton Secretaryeqann--n-enen = Shirley Spielman SponsoraaeaaaannaneeeneMrs, Curtain To raise money for the prom we gave a play (Everybody's Crazy Now) October 30, 1952, and we also gave a box supper January 29, 1953, We held the Junior-Senior Prom at the Oneida High School with the Seniors, Broad of iducation and Hacutly as our guests, The scheme for our Prom was Gypsy, which the Sophmore girls were dressed as Uyosys and served the dinner as follows: Love Portion Gypsy Mystery Package Golden Earrings life Line Gypsy's Dream Drew of Encantment After the Prom we went to Marysville and danced to the music of Del Weidner and a very enjoyable evening was had by all. In September, 1953 our Senior year found only six students enrolled for school those dropping out were, Kay Hittle whg moved to Vircleville, Wanda Baker who preferred Matrimony rather then school, Raymond “oover who left for St. Joseph to work, Our class officers are: President-------= to oo on wowesBarbara King Vice President------- --== =aJerry Norton Secretaryqnqqn--------ne nena -La Rae Chandler Treasurer------------ eee Shirley Spielman CLASS WILL I, La Rae Chandler will my Ford (33) to Roger and Jean Pendland so they won't have to walk to school when it so cold out, My quietness in study - hall to A. Anderson and Roselita Lierz, My Ats in shorthand to Roselita Lierz, My staying home through week-nights to Ruth Gerber and Jerome Allen, My basket-ball{suit to Doris Campbell if she can wear it, Barbara King and I both will our ability to skip last study-hall periods to Phyllis Reasy and Alice Kock. I, Shirley Spielman will my Bookkeeping book to Rosie Lierz, My typing ability to Norma Jean Boltz, My A's in short - hand to my sister Betty Spielman,, My position and basket-ball suit to Ruth Carson, My seat in study hall to Annette Anderson if shewill promise to stay in it. I, Barbara King will my ability to keep still in class to Max Allen, My Ats in Constitution to Pat Hughes, My friendly disposition especially on Monday Morning to Edith Pendland, My ability to stay home every night and get 8 hr s. of sleep to Norma Jean, My one Treasure, My Beauty, My manners and personality to Jerome Allen. I, Alvin Bauman Jr. will my height to Eldon Plattner ang my ability in music to Rex Allen, My quietness in the study-hall to Leon, My ability to get along with teachers to Pat any my study - hall seat to Betty, My basket = ball ability to Robert Allen, My everyday friendlyness to Phyllis Reasy, My getting home early at nights to Edith, In Farm Mechanics work I will my good welding and cutting to Jerome Allen and my looks to anyone who cares for them. I, Vaden Allen will my ability to type to Jerome, My ability to get along with teachers to Max, My baskethall position to Pat, My good looks to the Freshmen, My study-hall seat to Robert Allen, My grades in school, well anybody can have them, I, Jerry Norton will my ability to type to Pat Hughes, My study - hall seat to Roger Allen, My position in Basketball to Jerome, My ability to get along with the Girls to Max, My good looks to Robert Allen, My ability to work to Rex, My grades in Farm Mechanics to Eldon Plattner, My way of getting along with the teachers to the Juniors, My 40 Chev. to the girls of 0.H.S. This will eliminate Jerome and his old 1914, Red Model T. Ford. PROPHECY The class of '54 are hear at the Dear old Delononte for there first renuioh exactly twenty years from there parting night, at the door you see professor Anderson and rest of the faculty of '54 Mr. Cruisenberry, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs, Curtain to greet the guest. Alvin Bauman Jr. is the first guest to arrive,he is driving a flashy sportt car. Buddy is now the owner of the Bauman Truck Line. Shirley Spielman head of the business department has just .won the title Vorld's Fastest Typist. She is debating with Mr. Anderson the professor of OHS on what hand you use to hit the six on a typewriter. The debate is dis- missed as they hear voices in the hall, well look who's here La Rae Chandler with her family, Miss Chandler has been in society since her husband became president of the Nemaha Cp-operative Creamery which has becn moved to Oneida for there convenience. Look at the snappy uniform and guess who it's on Professor Vaden Allen he wore it) because he had to be at the gym in 45 minutes. To coach the Oneida University boys to another victory in tiddley-winks. Hey what speed, its Jerry Norton driving one of his own cars. Jerry has a car factory in Oneida. He took Mrs. Johnson at her word and as soon as the golden rule days were over he started the atomic car factory on west main. The last to arrive is Barbara King but she is in time for the ChiliSupper. Barbara professor of eating commonly known in colleges as Home Economics as been teaching in the University here at Oneida but is planning on quiting and taking care of her family soon. Well the meal is over and you hear Mr. Cruisenberry compliment on the peace and quite they have after the departing of the guest.
