How have you been? I just have a few minutes in between classes and thought I’d write to find out more about our class reunion on June 3. Can you believe we’ve been out of high school for ten years and I’ve been at Parkland ever since? I never knew there were so many careers to choose from, but Parkland says I have to decide upon one by next year. By the way, guess who is my instructor in Computer Science class? Bruce Mueller, and he still won’t help me cheat. I was home last weekend and went to Cliff’s in Gilman, which is now called Rob’s, and found Robert Lid-dle sitting behind a desk in a three piece suit, instead of stocking the shelves in the tacky Red Fox shirt. I read in the Chicago Tribune that Amy (Thomas) Reitz was awarded the Mrs. Pig Farmer of the Year” award. Roger must be pretty proud of his little pig farmer. Remember how Dawn Ash always told us she was going to marry Mr. July? Well, she married Scott Ruder instead and already has six kids to keep her busy. Over Christmas break I was visiting my brother out in California at Travis Air Force Base and while shopping at the commissary, some spacy red-head rammed into a big pile of fruit and when I took a closer look it was D. D. (Lyons) Smith. What a coincidence, huh? Remember how well Brian DuFrain related to the girls in 6th hour study hall? Well, believe it or not, he is now a gynecologist. I accidentally went into his office and his receptionist, Michelle Hamilton, warned me not to make an appointment. Michelle was telling me she’s been head nurse for him ever since he opened his office. Well, at least one of our classmates hit the big time. Dana Tilstra is an oil tycoon. He bought out all the oil companies in Illinois, but he still lives and mingles with us little people. Speaking of little people, are you going to be able to make it back. I bet it's real exciting living in France and being a French translator for the U.S. Embassy. Who would have believed that French class you took your senior year would ever have come in handy. You’ll never believe this, but I was all set to watch Julia Child's cooking show the other day and found out that Chuck Wilson had taken over her show and it’s now called “Chuckle Along With Charles.” You remember Jerry Haskins, don’t you? Well, he’s really worked up the ladder. He went from street cleaner to mayor of Onarga in just 10 short years. Well, I’ve got to run to catch my 10:00 class, which happens to be highly advanced cooking. See ya soon. Love Always, Kristal 38 Prophecy April 15, 1993 Dear Kristal, Bonjour, mon amie. It was really nice to hear from you. I’m excited about our upcoming class reunion. I received a letter from Sissie Poppie last week. She said that she has a big race coming up. It seems that Sissie has become a race car driver. She is still driving that silver Pinto that she got her senior year. Sissie also said that she was shocked to see Kevin Kieffer on television the other day. He was advertising his new lighters. All that you have to do to get them lit is blow on them. None of that tricky thumb business. Sissie was real excited about going to see Annerose Limbaugh play basketball with the Chicago Hustle. It’s hard to believe that our little Annerose is playing basketball with all of those big girls. My mom wrote me a letter and said that Brad Short and Jeff Crist had bought Best Super Market. It is now called BJ’s Shop Right. I heard that Danny Hubner is the head of his own company. His company, Queby’s, manufactures cigarette accessories. While I was home over Christmas, I went uptown to the sporting goods store. I found that Eric Manahan had bought out Denny’s. His new store is now Manard’s Sporting Goods. Eric told me that he specializes in backboards. Eric also said that he had gotten a letter from Car Goben. Carl has been promoted to a four star general in the army. Carl always was a good little trooper. I read that Becky Steiner has become a dance instructor. The article said that she was teaching the Dallas Cowgirls the Wet Noodle.” Patti Alvarez is the host of a new game show on television. The show is called “How Gullible Are You?” Patti is the perfect host for that show. I just bought Deanna Winn's new aerobicise album. She is really into aerobics these days. The album is called Dancing Deanna.” Tammy Bailey has opened up a travel agency in Onarga. She calls it “Travel with Tammy.” She is getting a lot of business from the many vacationers in Onarga. Remember when Lisa Gerdes was undecided about whether to be a nurse or a beautician? Well, she works at St. Marys Hospital in Kankakee now. She gives facials and haircuts to the patients. I was interviewing secretaries the other day and was surprised when Sue Hoy walked into my office. Sue is an excellent secretary and I hired her right away. Remember how much time Angie Higginson used to spend in Thawville? She has opened her own night club there. It’s called Angie's Place. I hear that every night is Margarita Night. Well mon amie, I have to go to a meeting now. I’ll see you at the class reunion on June 3. Try not to study too hard. 39 Love Always, Beth Senior Bests BEST DRESSED................DAWN ASH ROBERT LIDDLE PRETTIEST EYES.......ANGIE HIGGENSON CARL GOBEN MILLIONS SMILE........KRISTAL SIEBERT BETH KISSEE JEFF CRIST BEST FIGURE PHYSIQUE .. The evening started early for the seniors as Michelle Hamilton hosted a cocktail party. The banquet was held at the Shagbark Golf and Country Club in Onarga. Later on the activities were moved to the Onarga High School Gymnasium. The band was supposed to have been Slayer,” but due to difficulties beyond anyone’s control, an anonymous band showed up by surprise. Annerose Limbaugh and Danny Hubner were chosen as Prom Queen and King. Breakfast was held at the Harold Tilstra residence in which everyone indulged a little. Afterwards everyone was set loose to do as they pleased. 76 The reading of the wills Our lives are before us, Our past is behind us, But our memories are forever with us. For dessert there was delicious cake, which was baked and decorated by the Onarga Foods Class. Robert Liddle and Mr. Chinn 80 Class Trip On the 12-14 of May the last senior class of Onarga enjoyed their class trip in St. Louis, Missouri. They left the school at 7:30 Thursday morning and finally arrived in St. Louis at noon and went to eat. After returning to the Marriott’s Hotel, they took a swim. Thursday night the seniors went to the Goldenrod Showboat for supper and an entertaining Vaudeville Olio and a melodrama. Friday was a busy day. The seniors endangered their lives by going up in the Arch. After visiting the Arch, they climbed aboard the bus and went to an Art Museum and to the St. Louis Zoo, where they were drenched by the pouring rains. From the Zoo, it was a half hour trip to Six Flags. At 2:00 a.m. the seniors decided they’d had enough and returned to the hotel. Saturday morning was spent packing up and getting ready for the game. At noon, the seniors walked the short trip to Busch Stadium for an exciting game between the Cardinals and the Montreal Expos. After the game, they boarded the bus for the long trip home. St. Louis will never be the same again. We wished for one. The whole gang “I feel so much better now!” 82 They all love us. 83 Portrait By: THE PORTRAIT PLACE Photographer: Kathy Northcott The Last Graduating Class of Onarga High School 88 ADS TILSTRA MARATHON SERVICE When a Pilot sets a new course it is toward a definite destination.
