This year, the Senior Class Trip lasted seven days, and included one night in Little Rock, Arkansas; two nights in Houston, Texas; two nights in New Orleans, Louisiana; and one night in Memphis, Tennessee. In Houston, they toured NASA and the Astro Dome. In Galveston, they saw SEA-A-RAMA. In New Orleans, they toured Bourbon Street, Preservation Hall, the French Quarter, and Court of the Two Sisters. They ate at BARSAD’S, a fabulous French Restaurant. Every day’s activities included swimming parties, sunbathing and lots of good food!! 19

“We’ve Only Just Begun” is the class motto for the Class of ’71. Amid yellow and white, the class colors, and yellow roses, the class flower, the seniors graduate. “Graduation’s Here”, a song arranged by Jim Jarrett, is sung by Olivia, Esther, and Sharon. The words are very timely. Twelve years of fun, work, study, fun, music, classes, fun, striving, jobs, meetings, and fun-all coming to an end. Now begins the college, military service, trade school, marriage,-life. Life away from shelter and protection of school, mom and dad, and teachers. Adulthood, so longed for, is now here, and a little feared. There are lots of misty eyes tonight-seniors, parents, even teachers sneak a dab at their eyes. Nothing is forever.
