Football Season 1955-56 Onarga Military School 13 Glenwood 0 Outmanned completely by a strong team, Glen- wood bowed to Onarga Military. It was the Yellow- jacket's first game of the season. Paxton 28 Onarga Military School 13 The cadets fared a little better against a strong Paxton eleven but still came out on the losing end. Holding them was a defensive victory. Chatsworth 33 Onarga Military School 13 The cadets were outplayed and outclassed by a Chatsworth team. The cadets were cold for three quarters then clicked for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. 4. 5. 6. Hoopeston 32 Onarga Military School 6 Speed was Hoopeston's forte and they ran the Cadets ragged. With precision downfield blocking and back- ing aces who made the most of their opportunities, Hoopeston ran up an easy victory. Onarga Military School 13 Piper City 7 Outmanned completely by a strong experienced O.M.S. team, the Piper City Blue Streaks were completely outclassed and outplayed. Onarga Military School 20 Roosevelt Military School 13 Facing an opponent near its own size for the third time, O.M.S. swept to a hard earned victory. 7. Rantoul 21 Onarga Military School 0 The Cadets were off their feet against a strong Ran- toul team and went down to their fourth defeat. Full of enthusiasm after the Roosevelt victory, the Yellowjackets took to the Held with detennination to get this one too, but nothing they did tumed out right. BOURK BIRGERSON A The Varslty Ten S Basketball Resume 1955 - 1956 The Varsity Basketball squad minus three returning lettermen for most of the year, won only one game, over Kempton. Each time our squad was defeated, they showed amazing courage and spirit in the forty minutes of play, never once did they forget the Never Die Spirit of the O.M.S. teams in the past. Alex Birgerson, a most improved player, was out the last half of the season because of an infected foot. Ron Doran, our sharp-shooting guard, transferred to Bloomington and jerry Spore, last but not least, who always gave his best at the Center Post, was out most all of the season due to an injured knee which occurred in football and reinjured it in the second game of the season. All of the regular starters in the last half of the season will retum next year which consist mostly of the junior-Varsity who won a good percentage of their seasorfs games. Because of their inexperience in varsity play the last half of the season was devoted to fundamentals. The spirit and courage displayed by this inexperienced squad, should prove most valuable in winning games next year. VARSITY RECORD RESERVE RECORD A Team B Team Kempton .... O.M.S. ......
