Y . 1 Government Inspection R :Left to rrghtl Lt Col Han en Col French MaJor As the buglel blew frrst call and the offtcer of the Day yelled htt the deck rrse and shrne the O'VlS Cadet Corps realrzed that 'VIay 2nd was fm ally here All year long we had worked long hard hours on our mrlltary work Everythmg from rndrvrdual ent1.sel duty to mass battalron operatrons The ttme had frnally come when we were to show our stuff The Army offrcers had arrtved the nrght before and everyone was tense There were three offlcers on the rnspectlon board Colonel French Colonel Hanson and Colonel Fletschman Thev were from the Frfth Army and had had at least two years over seas Due to heayy ratn the Parade and Inspection rn ranks were delayed untrl Saturday mornrng Then at ervhtthrrty the sophmore junror and senlor classes marched to therr frrst examrnatron rn the school burldrnv The senrors were tested on Nlllrtary Hrstory leaderhrp dr1ll and command and a separate class rn the d1scuss1on of the World M111 tary srtuatron led by Vlajor Strenecker The Junrors had tests on Mapprng organrzatron small arms and leadershrp dr1ll and command The sophomores had tests on frrst a1d and 'Vlrhtary sanrtatron Organrza tron and 'Vl1l1tary courtesv As the freshmen and preps are not consrdered ROTC there were free to do as they pleased Followrng these w rrtten exams the Junrors and sen rors proceeded to the Gym where they were examrned on Rlfle 'Vlarksmanshrp and phystcal frtness The sophomores watched clo ely as next year 1t would be thelr turn We now heard mess call so we doubled trmed up to the dorm for mess II After lunch srnce rt was st1ll rarnrnv the parade w as again postponed Company A was deslvnated to perform rnterror uard dutv whrle Companres B and C were to Strenecker Lt Col Flerschman and Cadet lVIaJor Stark execute close order dr1ll Followrng thrs we were agarn drsmrssed and told that rn hopes for better weather the parade and Com bat Work had been postponed untrl the followlng day On returnrne to the dormrtory we found that our rooms had been rnspected Now you could look through a wrndow and belreve rt was gone Not a speck of oust could be found The next mornrnv we awoke to the pleasant prt ter patter of lrttle ram drops from Heaven But whether rt had rarned or the sun shrned the mspec tron must go on So drxll call sounded for Parade which was re ce ved by Colonel French whrle Colonel Hanson and Colonel Ferschman checked from drfferent vantage potnts After the parade the batallron reformed on the fteld and the off cers rnspected each cadet separately and asked questrons as they walked thru the ranks The Combat work was scheduled for next perrod but due to ram leaymd our freld under water we were told that we were to take a wrrtten test rnstead of dome fteld problems The senrors and Jumors marched over to the school burldmff once more to complete the last test Exam papers were passed out to Junrors and senrors and the rest were dlsmlssed.
