V 'V- F, F, A, MEETING IUDGING TEAM BLUE RBBON POULTRY WINNEIB 1, Our F, F, A, organization has once again made a fine showing. This year they were awarded the Master Chapter Award for their achievements, Of the 128 F, F, A, chapters in the state, our chapter was one of the fifty to receive this high award. 2, The judging team won two banners this year, One of the banners was won at the Elma Fair where they placed second and the other one was won at Yakima where they placed fifth. The judging team never placed below ninth in any of the five livestock judging contests they entered and they were never defeated by any of the Lewis County judging teams, 3. The Parliamentary Procedure Team also did well this year, They placed second in the sub-district contest and third in the South Western Washington district contest. The team also put on a contest in front of the student body, The members of the team, consisting of this year's officers, were Jack Wright President, Norman Wisner, Vice Presidentg Glen Franklin, Secretaryg Jack Nehring, Treasurer, Edward Rosenkilde, Reporter, Alvin Glaze, Sentinel and Mr, Myer, Advisor, 4, Our chapter was well represented at the Southwest Washington Fair this year, ln chapter points the Onalaska Chapter placed first in Horticulture, first in Poultry, and second in Dairy, Dean and Dale Hamilton also represented our chapter at the Junior Poultry Show in Seattle by exhibiting their turkeys, This was the first time that our Onalaska Chapter had entered this show. In concluding, our social events rounded out the year and we had a very successful Harvest Ball on November 6, 1953, and a well attended Parent and Son Banquet which was held on March 17, 1954, FFA. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE' The mystery comedy presented by the Senior Class proved that charity is not always a virtue, when the charity happens to be poisoned wine for lonely old men. The seniors, playing to their last audience, were in top form and presented an enjoyable evening. They were very proud to put a second place trophy in the show case. It was the first one in several years. They started the season with a victory over Valley in a practice game followed by a serious defeatby Toledo which was their first league game. They tied Winlock and went on to win all the rest of their games. Their final league record was nine wins and one loss. The only loss in league play was a 62-56 defeat by Winlock. The Loggers had a very tough practice season, winning only three games and losing six. Their record for the season was twelve wins and seven losses. They drew Quinalt the first game and won out by the score of 67-47. In the second game they played their bitter rivals, the Mossyrock Vikings, and defeated them for the third straight time. The score was 65-49. The Loggers had high hopes of going to the state tournament but they were defeated by Toutle Lake 58 -43 in the third game and lost to Kalama 52-46 in the fight for third place. The Loggers ended up in sixth place in the tournament. One bright spot of the tournament was the naming of Norman Wisner to the all tournament first team, Jack Wright made the second team last year. Scoring for the tournament: Wisner 68 Wright 44 Martin 38 Glaze 24 Hite 22 Nehrlng 11 Rosenkilde 6 Wilkins 2 Macomber l In the nineteen pre-toumament games, the Loggers averaged 61 points a game to their opponents 52. The leading scorers for these games were Norman Wisner 258, Jack Wright 251, Don Hite 197, Amie Martin 167, and Alvin Glaze 126.
