The Sophomore class started out by initiating the Freshman, on October 11, The class officers were: Donald Nass, President: Harold Marcus, Vice -President: Jill Freng, Secretary: and Beverly Ingalls, Treasurer. Our class advisors were Miss Gronlid and Mr. Dwyer. Jerry Ringdahl was our most outstanding sportsman. There were also some students participating in the music festival and some in the Forensics. Three representatives to the Student Council were Susan Kleven, Douglas Monsoor, and Beverly Ingalls. We hope that out last two years will be as happy and successful as the ones before. Jill Freng was chosen as candidate for carnival queen. 17 J

Our first official move as Juniors was to elect the officers who would lead in the coming year. Those elected to fill the officers were Lloyd Oelke, Pres: Chuck Enge, Vice-Pres.: Pat Barilani, Secretary and Shirley Wang Treasurer. Shirley Wang, also was our capable candidate for carnival queen. Our first big job of the year was our class play. Its title was Beauty and the Beef , staring Karen Wilhelm and Chuck Enge, with several other members of the class holdin? down major parts beautifully. Bill 'Connell and Pat Barilani reigned over our prom, eld May 8, 1953. Our Class had many outstandin partici nts-in sports and in Forensics. We ended a successful year byeiosting tibia Seniors at the Junior-Senior Reception. 16

Our class officers were: Gary Shoults, Pres.: Henry Latshaw, Vice-Pres.: Mary Schuttenhelm, Secretary: and Mary Terpstra, Treasurer. Many of our class took part in band, choir and sports. Marlene Hanson was chosen as our representative on the Homecoming Court. We were awarded second prize for our Homecoming float. Jerry Jones, Dennis Madigan, and Emily Berg served on the Student Council. We were led safely and surely through our first year at O.H.S. by our Class Advisors Mr. and Mrs. McKenna and Mrs. Taylor. Our class chose Mary Terpstra for our candidate for carnival queen. 18
