xlk A X 5 J 1 E4 sl N The ushers performed their duties at many school programs, football games, and at pro- grams not connected with school all over the city. There was also a flag detail whose duty it was to put up and take dawn the colors each school day. During the initial round the Rifle Team racked up a four win and one loss record. Their only loss was in the opener against Cen- tral. Dennis Pope and Bob Nielsen held the big gun: in the first round of competition, Ernest l-laffke and Wallace Kelly also did well. After the second round North and Centra' markimen were tied. ln the shoot off the Eagle marksmen nosed out North by one point, 636- 635. This was a heartbreaker for the Vikes who had been improving steadily all season. The highest score posted during the season was a l87, shot by both Dennis Pope and Wal- lace Kelley. Instructors at North this last year were Sergeants William l-l. Roberson and David L. Griesemer. Both instructors have added a lot to the battalion with their military knowledge. Climaxing the R.O.T.C. year was the an- nual Federal lnspection held April 27. After the many other events of the R.O.T.C. this event almost seems like an anticlimactic. Among these other events were the numer- ous parades, tactical movements, and above all class work. All of these things were covered by the inspection. Each year the inspection is graded on a point basis. The school in the Omaha area with the most points wins the coveted McDermott tro- phy.
