And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmci- mentf and they that turn many to righteousness, as The stars for ever and ever. -Daniel 12:3 Omaha Bop Omal 4.41: PRR 265 SEL 25 223 'scan Fel? Y 775, 1 F1 14- 12 I v resident? engage LIGHT Light refers to mental or spiritual enlightenment or illumination both in general and in scriptural usage. In Psalm 1l9:13O the writer claims that God's Word is the source of true spiritual insight by stat- ing: The entrance of thy words giveth light. A literal Hebrew translation would read the opening of thy word, which- means the opening of the eyes of the soul caused by the entering of the Word of God. This is an explanation of what happens when an individual is regenerated by the Holy Spirit. The things of the Spirit of God which were formerly foolishness to him are now clearly revealed by the Spirit of God. His eyes are opened in an entirely new realm and new light has entered his soul. The earthly pilgrimage of the child of God leads through a benighted world where the empire of darkness has him beset with countless dangers. How comforting then to read, We have the word of prophecy made more sureg whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a, dark place.. . lt is also assuring to hear One saying, I am the light of the world: he that followestvme shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Contrast the scrubby, sickly colored plant that has been struggling for its life in semi-darkness with the growth of the luxurious, deep green one that has been in the sunlight. Similarly, every child of God who wants to live an abundant Christian life should recognize that his new life can only grow and develop as it is permitted to bask in the irradiation of God's Word. He may well pray, O send outthy light and thy truth: let them lead meg let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. ' Wise are the young people who recognize that they are called out of darkness into His marvelous light and spend a year or more of systematic study of the Word of God. They can truly say by ex- perience that the darkness is passing away and the true light now shineth. .Ls.1:.g4a:4.,,.1 I F 4 1,547 -4. Fifa'-?'f2T7 : ?' If Q: 1 1, 2 ff?
