C. and for their counsel in spiritual matters, the 1961 WITNESS is dedicated to the deans, Miss Helen Scott and Mr. Charles Butrin. Both Miss Scott and Mr. Butrin have served the Lord at O. B. B, C. since 1956. Miss Scott is a graduate of O. B. B. I. and did chil- dren's work as a home missionary under the Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions from 1950 to 1956,'serving in Missoula, Montana, and Algona, Iowa. Her Christian love and sympathetic understanding are appreciated by those whom she serves as Dean of Women. Mr. Butrin received a B,A, degree from Ohio State University, an M, A, degree from Columbia Bible College, and aB, D, degree and Th. M, degree from Grace Theological Seminary. His years of experience as a pastor and youth director in Ohio and Indiana have made him well qualified for the position of Dean of Men. f .xi 2 I-LV Wh. Sawwe mmm lame . vgfbddldwbt '4 Wattage The unique factor in Christian Education, not found in secular learning, is that the one in the learning process possesses the divine nature which has been imparted by the regenerative act of the Holy Spirit and that the study of the Word of God presents a source of enlightenment and truth quite generally ignored by the unregenerate. This new divine life opens to the children of God areas of experience, thought concepts and purposes which the natural children of men have no power to comprehend. . . . Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit . . . Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God: that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. I Corinthians 2:9, 10, 12. The cultural or Spiritual development of this new Spiritual life is a great opportunity and the grave responsibility of every child of God. Therefore, Christian young people and mature individuals who prize, above all earthly pursuits, their Spiritual growth and the possibility of their being a source of salvation and truth to others, consecrate several years of their lives to systematic study of the Word of God under men especially prepared in the various methods of such study. This special study of the Word of God and the pursuits of Christian character development are provided only by the Bible institute and the Bible department of the Bible college. Some of these same ends can be accomplished by private study of the Bible and faithful attendance at a fundamental church under the ministry of the pastor who is a student of the Word of Godg but this is generally a much longer and slower process which seldom brings the individual to the same ultimate at- tainment as does the planned, systematic, specialized process. ls it not readily evident that those who choose to be students in Spiritual pursuits, like Mary, hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from them. Its object is to provide a time of fellowship, prayer, and training for Christian service. Meetings includea devotional time led by one of the senior wives, special music by one of the members, an outside speaker on a topic of interest, and a time of prayer. In ad- dition this year, Dr. Gray is bringing a half hour study of Bible Doctrine at the beginning of each meeting. A short business meeting is also included each month. The offerings received during the year go toward a gift for the school. Items for the girls' dorm and the kitchen were purchased in 1960-61.
