NEW ACADEMICS The relaxed learning situation wasn’t the only innovation in Olympus’ halls. Many new classes and curriculum changes en- hanced the models of teaching and learning. Semester history and English classes were introduced, making it possible for the stu- dent to be a little more selective in what he wished to study. New resource centers aid- ed the students in individual study projects and provided a quiet place to study when the library was full. R.O.T.C. was reintroduced after an absence of six years. These adop- tions. along with an already outstanding academic program, produced a year of in- novation at Olympus. 24

The library was always full, either with people looking for material or taking advantage of the only quiet place in the school. The A.V. center found little relief from the constant schedule of handling films, printing handouts and making morn- ing announcements. The teachers of spe- cial education helped those students who needed help. 23
