The introduction of se- mester classes gave the student a fresh ap- proach to English studies. At the same time, just down the stairs, in fact, another approach took place. This time with foreign languages. Spanish. French. Latin, and Ger- man students spent the year not only learn- ing and memorizing the language but also gaining a greater appreciation of the coun- try they studied. A much needed resource center and a new western history class highlighted this year’s 20 social studies’ department. The exposure to constant classwork was remedied by various field trips, movies, and independent projects which marked the department as exciting, innovating and refreshing.
