ADMIRATION NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE is a national honor- ary for debate and speech participants. Charters in this organization are granted to a limited number of schools whose forensic programs meet required standards. This year's OHS chapter, advised by james Carlson, served as hosts for the Wfashington-Oregon district NFL tourna- ment in April. QUILL AND SCROLL is an international honor society for journalism students, explained Ernest Ander- son, adviser. This club promotes further interest in jour- nalism and has such activities as the annual journalism banquet. Alyce McKay is serving as president. Main purpose of HI-ARTS, which is advised by james Gilmore, is to promote art among the students of Olym- pia High. One of the main projects is the designing and selling of Christmas cards. Holding the honor of being TOP SCHOLARS in the class of '59 with a grade point average of 3.5 or better were: Ray Cairncross, Marilyn Ginsbach, Judy Gruning, Ned Hill, Bill jessiman, Sarah Knox, john Koehler, jane Mallgren, Alyce McKay, Hallie Niemi, Pat Osborn, Y'Vayne Mattson, Bonnie Scanlan, Nancy Seely, Pat Thompson, and Bill Thorndale. Membership is open to students who have acted in or worked on committees for the school plays. Productions this past year included Solid Gold Cadillac and Ramshackle Inn. To honor students with high scholastic records is the purpose of HONOR SOCIETY. It is open to all juniors and seniors who maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better during their sophomore, junior and senior years. Kathy NVynstra is president, and Miss Mary Catherine Schmitt is adviser. BOVs is a music honorary open to music students who meet the high required standards. Main projects of the group this year have in- cluded a carnival booth and Work on all con- certs. They also provided chairmen for the concert committees. Adviser is Leslie Armstrong.
