When the sacrifices and deed.s of these men are weighed, the dedication of an annual is relatively insignificant. This may he balanced somewhat lly the fact that the class- mates of these men have also left and are leaving their books to pick up the weapons of war, which were so valiantly dropped in battle. To those men who have died for the cause for which they dedicated their lives, let us remember: He has outsoared the shadow of our night: And that unrest which men miscall delight, Envy and calumny and hate and pain, Can touch him not and torture not again. To those still living, we ask of God that they may be spared to return to their home- land and live in the peace that they restored to it. Pictured on these pages are only a few of O.H.S.'s casualties. Armstrong. The first, Prelude to Christmas, which included famous yuletide music, was December 17. General chairman was Fritzi Rotter. Other commit- tee chairmen were: juel Gregor, tickets, Gerry Gregor, program, Sharon Krieger, ushers, Ivan Briggs, publicity, Don Brame and Loren Hansen, stage, Houston McIn- tosh and Bob Chenier, makeup, Allen Crombie, stage crew. For the ninth consecutive year the mixed chorus pre- sented the traditional Seraphic Song. Lynn Murphy sang the alto solo and Betty Kuhlman played the violin obli- gato. Each year alumni members of the mixed chorus come back to help sing this number. The second in the series of concerts was Music Unit- ed, March 23. A universal language for better interna- tional understanding was the motto. General chairman f 1 U-gifs fftzfiil H1 32' R11 f O F 33 Ill was Lynn Murphy. Other committee heads: Beverly Frank, publicity, Don Brame, stage, Allen Crombie. stage crew, Lynn Sjolund, programg Pat XfVarren, ushersg Mask and Dagger members, makeup. The final concert was given by the band May ll, too late to be photographed for the Olympiad. The band, pictured dramatically above against the inspiring back- ground of the state capitol and the Mforld War I me- morial, was exceptionally active. It played at the pep rally in September and led the serpentine up Capitol X'Vay. During football season members tooted at every home game. Between halves they marched on the field and made formations in front of the grandstand, such as the Armistice day stunt pictured at the bottom of the page. The merry music makers harmonized at the Vice President Truman rally on the capitol steps, and again when Governor Wallgren was inaugurated. Ralph Pittman was band manager, -lim XfVilliamson student director. Adding to the color and pep were Ivan Briggs, drum major, and the majorettes, Pat Martin, Donna Isaacson, Doris Lohrengel, and Bette Eads, leader.
