THESE ADDITIONS, ALTI-DIBH VISIBLE AND TANGIBIE, ARE BUT ONE PART OF,Tl E GROWTH OUR S31-ITL ADMINISTRATORS ARE PLANNING. IN THE YEARS TO CORE-, IT IS OLR HOPE THAT THIS BOOK WILL STIR UP FOND IEKIRIES OF SHWL DAYS AT OLUSTEE. New blonde desks have been added in most of the classrooms, providing a pleasant atmosphere in which to study. Individual table and chair sets are now used throughout the first f our grades . O1ustee's wel 1- equipped library has a special reading section with refer- ence and research books close at hand. In the foreground of this pictureisthe blonde diction ary stand presentedtofhe School by the 1957 graduating class. Miss Gladys Hudson is the 'libr a r y sponsor, and a stai of student helpe rs assist her in keep- ing the books filed neatly and correctly. 'gr 0lustee's lunchroom is equipped with modern appliances, and like the classrooms, 1 t 1 8 air conditioned. At the left, the sophomore class goes through the lunch line. Ellen Whitehead stands beside the new 20' deepfreeze addedto the lunch- room this year. In the fore- ground is the new electric kneader and llxer. 154 Students are enthusiastic in their praise of the lunchroom food. Some of their favor- ites includes 'those delicious hot rollsj' 'cherry cobbler, and 'barbecued beef on home-made buns. Students are given generous re-fills and can purchase extra milk f o r only 20 a half-pint. At the left, lunchroom cooks, Mrs. Henry Whitehead and Irs. J o h n Edgeworth fill plates. Mlmeographing is an easy job since a fully automatic Gestet- ner machine has been purchased for the commerce room. The mimeograph, used mainly for the publication of the school paper, is equipped with au to- matic inklng and counting. Adding to the appearance of the stage in Olustee's spacious audltoriun are the new velour curtains added last May. The front curtains are blue with a soft gray used in the back curtains. The English Depart- ment co-ordlnates ln- struction i n grammar and composition with a thorough study o f English and American literature. At the right, Cecil Hoody holds the atten- tionof the English III class with a report on Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Red Plague. Olustee is accredited for five language arts credits. Four yea rs of English are required, and speech is offered as an elective. Clclahoma history students listen attentlvely to a lecture on Ok la - homa's illustrious past by teacher, Nicky Wolfe. Interest in scientific principles ls stimulated by classroom experiments and individual research. At the right, Larry Weber explains a demonstration t o the general science class. The paper earned Highest Honors' fromthe Okla- homa Inter-Scholastlc Press last spring. 'I1-E EAGLE has won first place at Southwestern nsecu- State Co1lege's newspaper contest for two co tive years, an d is to be entered again this year. DMINISTRATIO -E - MOR RIS ROBERTSON D SUPERINTENDENT MCRRIS RCBERTSON, a native Cklahoman, is completing his thlrd year as administrator of the Olustee Schools. He received his B.S. and Mil Degrees in Education from Oklahoma State University. A teacher of mathematics and science, M . Robertson's hobby is music. He has a fine tenor voice, and is director of the high school trio and quarute t as well as choir director at the Olustee Baptist Church. This year he is serving as president of the Jackson County Schoolmen's Association. Mr. R0bertS0hiSa1S0 an avid sports fan. Mr. Robertson is not only a good teacherg but he is also a good friend. His unceasing patience and his genuine interest in the educational growth of each student has contributed greatly toward the happiness and success o f Olust ee students during the past three years.
