L. 4' i r The Senate is the upper house of the Students' Association, acting as the executive hody of the House of Representatives, it is composed of some of the ahlest and most outstanding school citizens, who hy their leadership try to improve the spirit and the general welfare of the school. Une of the major functions of the Senate is the presentation of awards to worthy students. It recognizes partic- ipation in extra-curricular activities hy giving the Student Activity Award and the Senior Seal, and works jointly with the Honor Society in giving the Honor Award, hased on outstanding scholarship. It examines carefully the secretarial hooks of each home-room to see that meetings are held regularly and accurately. it cooperates with the Student Welfare Committee in making the monthly welfare collections. Active memhership on one or more committees, and the maintenance and extension of high standards are among the duties of every Senator. hluch of the success of this term,s Senate is due to Gladys Noone, Eirst girl president of the hody, who was unanimously re-elected eariy in the term. Gladys has worked with untiring ettort, showing us that a girl can preside very capahiy and efficiently over the Senate. A vote of thanks also goes to Wir. Vvaideiich, faculty adviser ot the Senate, for giving generously of his time and advice. Qur class was represented in the Senate hy Betty Putney, vice-president oi the hody, and Soi Shoreg and the lower seniors chose Jean Stairs and Earle Vvhite to fill the positions. The Senators from the Junior class were Gladys Noone, Jack Kisten- macher, hiarian Cunningham, and Xviiiiam Lynng those from the Sophomore class were Kate Uhiig, Harry Purseii, Birdie Huppi, and Jane .Iacohsg and those representing the Freshmen were Zlllil Farrior, Arthur Giihert, Jack Soiohi, and Bernice Prizant.
