GOD What is really needed is a fundamental change in our attitude toward life. We have to know ourselves and realize that it does not really matter what we expect from life, but rather what life expects from us. We need to stop asking about the meaning of life and instead think of ourselves as being questioned by life. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual. These tasks, and therefore the meaning of life, differ from man to man, and from moment to moment. God is the ultimate answer to each man ' s search and through Him each man finds meaning for his life. We, therefore, not only have minds-alive, but minds alive unto God. a and b Kankakee Daily Journal Photo

It has been said that you radiate what you are. You go forth to others in love, in hate, in indifference, in warmth, in coldness, in cheer or in gloom. What you truly are, deep down inside, thunders silently as you meet and mingle with people. This is surely the case with DR. CARMICHAEL. His life radiates vitality, enthusiasm, and dedi cation to teaching and in comparison he puts many younger professors to shame. With sincere admiration, love and respect we proudly dedicate the 1970 Aurora to DR. VERNAL H. CARMICHAEL. 15
