Mental and physical growth New to Olivet ' s extracurricular activities this year was the inter- collegiate sports program. Birch- ard Gymnasium was the setting for five of the Tigers home games. The gym also serves as the head- quarters for the Physical Educa- tion Department. Other functions include offices for the Coaches, several classrooms, locker facili- ties for both men and women, and the O Club room. Birchard Gymnasium emorial Library The Memorial Library, com- pleted in 1956, has a quiet at- mosphere conducive for study, research, or simply browsing. Its facilities include thirty study car- rels, a typing room, a conference room, a music library, a current events area, and a microfilm ma- chine. a:?.. Reed Hall of Science Reed Hall is a great asset to our campus and a fine tribute to our president. Included in this science building is a green-house, an animal house, and on the top, an ob- servatory. Within the building are class- rooms, laboratories, faculty offices, and a beautiful lecture hall. The pealing of the carillon calls students and faculty to Chalfant Hall four days a week for chapel. Named in memory of Dr. E. O. Chalfant, this interim chapel is also the scene of Lyceums, lectures, concerts, parties, and recitals. Scientific and spiritual progress Chaltani Hall

F i ' ermon Hall Flierman Hall, just south of the Administration Building, is one of Olivet ' s oldest structures. Housed within its walls are a few classrooms, practice rooms, and offices. During the day, many students journey across the street to Goodwin Hall. Here they practice or attend lessons in the studios of the music faculty. All home economics majors spend eight weeks in the Home Management House on North Main. Here theory becomes practice, and the students must utilize their knowledge in practical experi- ence.
