Forty years ago there was a small struggling school in Olivet, Illinois, which was offered to the Church of the Nazarene. This proffered gift, Illinois Holiness University, was received by the Church of the Nazarene in 1912. In 1940 this College was moved to Kankakee, Illinois. This, in brief, is the history of Olivet Nazarene College. Forty years have gone by, and forty years of service have been rendered to the Church of the Nazarene and to the entire world. Forty years of Educa- tion With a Christian Purpose have given to the cause of Jesus Christ scores of pastors, evangelists, musicians, missionaries, and Christian workers. Forty years have added to the Alumni membership until it now totals two thousand ' men and women in places of leadership in the professions, in the home, and in business; and other thousands have received training within Olivet ' s portals and likewise are serving with distinction. Forty years of progress! Forty years of Christian service! Forty years of spiritual leadership! Forty years of glorious achievement! And, now, the God who has led Olivet through these forty years, points to the future years. Thus, Olivet turns to a new point of beginning with a clear vision of her task. With faith, hope, and love she proposes to give the youth of the Church of the Nazarene, more fully than ever before, Education With a Christian Purpose. Harold W. Reed, President DR. AND MRS.
