A student is curious. He is driven to perpetually seek knowledge and truth. He relentlessly does more than is required or expected. . .and derives a personal satisfaction from learning for the joy of learning. He is not inter- ested in competing with his fellow students for grades, for praise from his teacher, or for knowledge. He is interested in developing his own mind as completely as possible. He thinks independently. He wants to come to his own conclusions about things. He is revolted by the idea of having any one tell him how or what to think. He is eager to know all kinds of people. . .realizing the greatest knowledge and truth can be acquired from an association with people of different minds, personalities, and ways of life. He is open-minded. He tries to look at everything objectively. . .and when he finds he has con- descended to petty bias, he has the intellectual honesty to admit his short- coming. The student is always questioning. He is never satisfied with pat answers. He knows the more perplexing questions are not to be answered so easily. ...
