My dear Seniors: Every crisis creates its leaders. Every age takes on its own peculiar marks of identification. In a global sense, the ideological conflict that has divided the world into an East and a West, continues to cast its ominous and ugly shadow across the earth. The atomic age, while yet in its infancy, is tem- porarily eclipsed by the age of Sputnik. It has been your unique privilege to secure your high school education in this atmosphere of conflict and change. The leadership that shall determine our national and individual destinies is soon to be placed in your hands. If you, the Class of 1959, are representative of the quality of youth throughout America, and if your record to date is an index to your future achieve- ment, then I have faith that the force of human decency, freedom, and progress will prevail. To each and everyone of you, my every good wish for success and happiness both temporal and spirit- ual. Sincerely, W. Cecil Davis Superintendent of Schools Mr. W. Cecil Davis Superintendent of Schools Mr. Harold McManus Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Snyder Secretary
