To The Seniors In the world of which we find ourselves a part, the well-educated person has become a necessity. The program of studies pursued, the subject matter absorbed, the books read, and the etlort expended do not necessarily combine to produce the product we seek. It is the spirit with which these numerous and sometimes tedious assignments are accomplished which adds char- acter to this well-informed being. As one thinks in his heart so he becomes: either he loves his fellow men and gives generously to them, or he practices an existence of mental frugality, deny- ing to others the opportunity to share the joys and successes of life. In the final analysis it mat- ters not so much what he has studied, but how he has applied himself, and the attitude with which he has completed the task. ERNEST H. HOELDTKE, Principal ADMINISTRATION My dear Seniors, Four years ago the coveted goal of gradua- tion seemed quite remote. Today, I congratulate you on achieving this important objective. Future rewards and recognitions, I am sure, will never dull the happy memories of your years at Olean High School, and these, I trust, may be many. To each and every member of the Class of 1953, I extend cordial greetings and every good wish. Sincerely yours, W. CECIL DAVIS, Supt. of Schools
