Declam is always one of the highlights of the year. For those of you who may not be acquainted with our declam program this is what it is like, Each high school student may or may not choose to be in declam. It isn't compulsory. There are several divisions you may enter. They are dramatic or humorous readings, interpretative reading, oratorical, original oratorical, radio speaking, extemporaneous speaking, and each school may have a debating team which Olds does not have. Everyone enters the home contest where they are judged and three out of every group proceed to the preliminary contest where they are again judged and from there they go to the district and on to the state contest. Only the contestants that receive a I rating may proceed to the next contest.
