Kindergarten Mrs. Paul Harms GRADE MUSIC INSTRUCTOR Grade Music Mrs. Harms directed the Grade School Christmas program held on December 17. The kindergarten through the third grade sang The first and second novelty Christmas songs. grades played in a rhythm band and the third grade took part in a bottle band. Grades four through seven presented The Christmas Bazaar. Above is a scene from the operetta showing the entire cast and chorus. Junior Senior Banquet Starlight Rendezvous was the theme chosen for the Junior-Senior Banquet. The beautifully decorated hall consisted of light blue stream- ers on the ceiling with silver stars suspended from them. In the center of one wall was a large yellow moon with stairs covered with dark blue paper. Draped on the stairs was pink angel hair, giving the appearance that the stairs were leading to the moon. On the tables were pink angel hair and dark blue studded candles. Declam is always one of the highlights of the year. For those of you who may not be acquainted with our declam program this is what it is like, Each high school student may or may not choose to be in declam. It isn't compulsory. There are several divisions you may enter. They are dramatic or humorous readings, interpretative reading, oratorical, original oratorical, radio speaking, extemporaneous speaking, and each school may have a debating team which Olds does not have. Everyone enters the home contest where they are judged and three out of every group proceed to the preliminary contest where they are again judged and from there they go to the district and on to the state contest. Only the contestants that receive a I rating may proceed to the next contest. Below is a list of the students who participated in each division: DRAMATIC Esther Ahlsclager Roberta Rich Verena Abrahamson Carole Nordquist Donna Cannon Cheryl Morgan ORATORICAL Robert Metzger Linda Benson Verene Rodgers Jane Wickham Janine Ingmanson HUMOROUS Geraldine Unkrich Max Cannon Beverly Brown Lois Erwin Kay Anderson Betty McGohan Faye Unkrich Gary Marshall RADIO SPEAKING Robert Metzger Donna Cannon Betty McGohan Declclmahon INTERPRETATIVE READING Roberta Rich Joyce Hult Verene Rodgers EXTEMPORANEOUS Rich Rew Donna Cannon The one act play this year was 'Love Errant It was about two seniors Jim fMax Cannonl and Ann lRoberta Richl who were going steady These two seniors decided to break up because they thought they were getting tired of each other Jim started going with Eve fBev Brownj and Ann with Guy fTed Bergstromj Jim gave Eve his class ring and Ann promised Guy that she would wait for him The ending shows Jim and Ann back together again showing that the old saying 'Parting makes the heart grow fonder is ce rtainly true Z3 O ' 1 vu ' - - , , , . . . . , .
