LlL As last year's Junior Class, the class of ,53 were the originators and doting parents of the school newspaper, The Lil' Bit. The junior class this year has ably carried on this new tradition. Since news travels fast around a small girls' school, The Lil' Bit is hard pressed at times to uncover new stories about school happenings and school personalities. This year the juniors specialized in features, to give a lively touch in print. PUBLIC SEHVIEE A group organized specially to do work for others has once again been started in Oldfields. Its membership is large and enthusiastic. It was very gratifying to see the girls in the school pour their spirit and time into this work by backing all the drives for the year, such as the Red Cross, March of Dimes, and the Holland Flood Relief. Also quite a few participated in making baby clothes for the Florence Crittenton Mission in Baltimore. The big- gest project for the year, though, was the Christmas party for the Saint Gabriel's Convalescent Home in Catonsville, Maryland. The girls gave each child two or more presents and some holiday refreshments. The little children en- joyed themselves, we think, and the Oldfields girls perhaps enjoyed giving it even more. We hope this enthusiasm founded among the girls this year will carry through '53-'54. s1j

Chorus is a very large group of girls who set aside an hour and a quarter weekly for their own enjoyment of singing under the direction of Miss Kahmann. This group performs in two of the biggest events of the year: the Christmas pageant and the operetta, which is held in the spring. The operetta this year is diilerent from usual, in that its production and script are being handled mostly by the students in the chorus, and the music is being en- tirely written by Miss Kahmann. Doing new and learning more things in the field of music and song under Miss Kahmann has given this group great satisfaction. L52
