FUHEWUBU lt seems incredible to think that soon we shall be leaving amidst a confusion of roses, white gowns and friends' farewells. Now we can comprehend that feeling of want- ing to set out on a journey, yet being reluctant to leave behind us so much. How impossible it is that next year there will be no milk and crackers, no teahouse to break the final shred of our will power, and no bumpy train trip with the familiar cry of Glencoe at its end. As we leave, we realize how much these years have meant. We shall miss Oldfields for all the happiness and fun we have shared, for all the friends we've made among faculty and students, and for a combination of little things: the cow- bell, the velvet steps and those sleepy eyed curtsies, the little details that make up Oldfields. As we go down the hill, we know wherever we may be, we shall never forget our years here, and a little voice tells us that we shall come back up the winding driveway and enter the old house on the hill once again. ear a cheery laugh echoing from room to room, see a warm smile, follow a pair of argyle socks and saddle shoes around a corner, and you will meet our Miss Lucas. How often your unfailing sense of humor has picked us up and made us laugh with you, and how many extra hours have you devoted to helping us so patiently with college appli- cations, or struggling with us as our feeble minds tried to grasp the rudiments of grammar! No matter what we needed advice on, or how much else you had to do, we always knew we were welcome in your room, and never did you let us down. We have learned a lot from you, M iss Lucas. Our classes have been a mixture of Hamlet, pragmatism, laughs and good times. We shall never forget your patience and consideration to all of us, and we only hope we may take away with us a little bit of your enthusiasm, sincerity and cheerful willingness to help all in need.
