Commander Nesselrode's service at sea has been exclu- sively in cruisers and destroyers. Upon completion of Nu- clear Power training, he was assigned to the engineering de- partment of USS SOUTH CAROLINA 1CGN 372. he served a second tour as the Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS MISSISSIPPI 1CGN 402. After the Department Head course he was assigned as Operations Officer aboard USS HOEL 1DDG 132. He served a second department head tour as Elec- trical OfHcer aboard USS LONG BEACH 1CGN 92. During his assignment as Executive Officer aboard USS HORNE 1CG 302, Commander Nesselrode saw action in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Mathematics, Commander Nesselrode is also a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School and holds both a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and the degree of Me- chanical Engineer. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College. Commander Nesselrode has also served as a manager ofthe National Military Command Center on the Joint Staff His various awards include the Defense Meritorious Ser- vice Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal 1with Combat V and 3rd Gold Star in lieu of 4th award2, the Navy Achievement Medal 1with Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award2 and the Combat Action Ribbon. Commander Nesselrode is married to the former Martha Blum of Gig Harbor, Washington. Martha is a graduate of both Washington State University and George Mason Uni- versity, and holds both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Nursing. The Nesselrodes have three daughters. Laurin 1162. Steven P. Fulton Lieutenant Commander EXECUTIVE OFFICER Lieutenant Commander Fulton graduated from Texas AAQM University in 1980 where he majored in Electrical En, gineering. Entering the Navy as a seaman in August 1980 and eventually advancing to Radioman Second Class, he was commissioned through OfHcer Candidate School in 1982. His Hrst sea tour was in USS CONSTELLA TION ICV 641 serving in the Engineering Department as an Administrative Assistant, the Training Officer, one of four Propulsion Divj. sion Ofhcers and Hnally, After Propulsion Group Officer. He next served in USS CUR TS KFFG 382 as ASW Officer, ahef which he attended Department Head School. As a Depgn. ment Head, he served as Weapons OfHcer in USS BAGLEY IFF 10692, Operations OfHcer With the Destroyer Squadron THIR TEEN staff and Flag Secretary on the Cruiser-De stroyer Group THREE staff Lieutenant Commander Fulton holds a subspecialty code in Anti-Submarine Warfare. He earned a Master of Arts de- gree in Strategic Studies and International Affairs from the Na val War College. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navg Commendation Medal ttvvo avvardsj, Navy Achievement Medal ltwo avvardsj, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Arm ed Forces Expeditionary Medal and sev- eral unit citations including the Sea Service Deployment Rib- bon llive awardsj. Lieutenant Commander Fulton entered the service from College Station, Texas and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Fulton. He is married to the former Marilyn K. Knepper ol Portland, Oregon. They have one son, John and one daugh- ter, Stephanie. 5
