fe:- On October 23, 1944 Admiral Jesse Oldendorf led 3 Qfoup gf Uts H, ships, comprised mostly of old battleships, survivors of Pearl I J Harbor, against a fleet of Imperial Japanese Naval vessels bound for the U.S. invasion fleet in Leyte Gulf. At sunset, the ship held a memorial service to all the Sallofs- living and dead, who participated in the great victofy- While the crew and officers watched, OLY's honor guard fired a ii 21-gun salute.
