aj gf DR. HOWARD D, MCEACHEN Superintendent Administration Many people contend that the junior high school years are the n important years in the life of an individual. Some have termed these formative years because it is during these years that significant and life enduring habits are formed. These are the years when preparation is rr for the training which will produce the ability to face important decisions in years to come. Some educators call these the exploratory years The course of study is designed to give pupils many contacts with a variety of interests Through this method pupils are expected to evaluate their talents their interests, their desires and their ambitions, and to reach some conclusic relative to their plans for the future. We know that, in general, successful people are happy people urge all pupils to take full advantage of the many valuable experiences which are provided. The individual who prepares himself to meet the challenges of his age is likely to be both successful and happy in adult DR. HERBERT I. Mission unior High S 11001 Greg Anton Whenever another school year passes, it seems as if another era has ended. Each year a few members of the student body try to capture the highlights of that era. We hope that we have captured the highlights that you recall and would like to remember in the years to come. The Editors Page 1

ministration I have enjoyed this year at Old Mission. The faculty and students have een instrumental in making the year a success. Iwould like to make this bservation for your consideration. Perhaps the most valuable result of all our education is to develop the ability to make yourself do the job you have o do, when it should be done, whether you like it or not. This is the first esson that should be learned. !fu.f,fz,7' A number of things could be said to explain the purposes, aims and activities involved in our ghidance program. However, the definitions most often used are more theoretical than practical and, therefore, not very use- ful. It is our hope that the guidance offices become known as places where a student can come when he needs a listener to his problems, where he can get help in self-understanding, educational planning, and begin to learn about career opportunitiesg where parents and teachers are welcome to use the resources available and to meet in conference for the purpose of gaining better understanding in our common aim - that of assuring the best possible education and opportunities for success of each student. Working with the students at Old Mission has been a rewarding experi- for me, I am positive that a wholesome faith in God and humanity must y sound guidance principles, psychology and philosophy. To me, the and his desires must be held in high esteem. He must be encouraged ard wholesome desires and motivated, if possible, toward success in school ievement and future social stability. I sincerely hope that our students e may be benefited by what we, as counselors, attempt to offer in the way help and concern. OWN mwah Page 3
