Change is one of the basic characteristics in life and takes place continuously. It is impossible to dis- cern day-to-day changes in individual behavior and action. Nevertheless, changes have taken effect and it is only as actions are observed over a period of time are they noticeable. During recent years the speed with which new ideas must be disseminated and assimilated has increased by virtue of many scientific and cultural advances. The junior high school pupil who takes advantage of the day by-day opportunities to understand the nature of change is preparing himself to meet the complex situations he will face in later years. The quality of his preparation will determine, to a large measure, the extent of his success and happiness in future years. DR. HOWARD D. MCEACHEN Superintendent of Schools Administration BOARD OF EDUCATION STANDING: Dr. Howard D. McEachen, Roy E. Welch, Henry M. Turrell. SEATED: Richard V. Garrett, Melvin Flowers, Kenneth P. Rankin.

PS. It is with pleasure that I take this opportunity to extend best wishes to my partners in Old Mission Junior High School. We are all members of the same team and we have and will be working with each other for the benefit of you our students, our school, and our community. Our job is to do the best we can each and every day in working to become better American citizens. This job will be accomplished by all of us working as a team. It depends not only upon your work in subject matter areas but your participation in the activities of the school and the the development of attitudes conducive towards good citi- zenship and accepting your share of responsibilities in this the Old Mission Junior High School team. My job is more than just setting up rules and regulations and general administrative duties. It includes helping both students and teachers to get the greatest possible benefit out of our facilities, recognizing that the most important resources are the talents of our faculty and our students. You are wel- come at all times as a partner in planning the activities of our school. Your cooperation in the past has been evident by the high spirit and morale in our school. I solicit your suggestions and your cooperation in the future in order that we may be a proud and successful partnership. WALT WAY DICK TRAST Counselors DR. LLOYD SCHURR Principal A number of things could be said to explain the purposes, aims and activities involved in our guid- ance program. However, the defini- tions most often used are more theo- retical than practical and, therefore, not very useful It is our hope that the guidance offices become known as places where a student can come when he needs a listener to his problems, where he can get help in self-understanding, educational planning, and begin to learn about career opportunities: where parents and teachers are wel- come to use the resources available and to meet in conference for the purpose of gaining better understand- ing in our common aim - that of as- suring the best possible education and opportunities for success of each student P.S
