g-N ,.- f-Q ,fx 31:1 OIQA-QC! 25 Apr1l7 1956 Admxral George W Emerson Umted States Navy Care of Uncle Sam Dear George Well here lt IS 1956 Ten years have passed s1nce you and I and the rest of the gang left Old Lyme Hlgh whlch set me to thmkmg about those Famous 46 rs and I dec1ded to look them up and see what they were domg Naturally Alouzse and I are st1ll the best of frlends She has been head coach for that champlon basketball qulntet the Callfornla Amazons and phys ed 1nstructor at the Un1vers1ty of Callfornla for the past four years I had a letter from Zim the woman hater of our class the other day Th1s w1ll surprlse you as It dld me he IS marrled and the proud father of two blond daugh ters I suppose you have heard the rumors gomg around Washlngton that he may be our next ambassador to England You must remember Elzzabeths ambltlon to become a clgarette g1rl she ful filled her w1sh and IS now workmg at the Stork Club Of course you have heard her on the blue network callmg from coast to coast Smoke Chesterfields Beatnce you know has been travelmg wlth summer stock but now has a part on Broadway and not only that she IS rehearsmg for a part 1n one of O Nexl s new plays In her spare txme she reads novels for the Lxterary Gulld Remember the settmgs Rosemarie and Barbara used to deslgn for our school affa1rs7 They now keep regular office hours ln thelr own workshop m New York and do stage show des1gn1ng Mary the quxet lass of our boxsterous group has chosen the domest1c way of lxfe and she and her husband have finally bought that house ln the country they've been dreammg of so long Carolyn our telephone operator has made good ln the professxon and IS now one of the executlves of the SNETC We hardly ever see Jeanne smce she moved to Washmgton and became a Whlte House secretary But surprlses of all surprlses her little son George who attends the first grade has none other than Cathze our best natured class member as h1s teacher You no doubt read m the papers that David won a sxlver lovmg cup for a speech he made m Pans on Womens Hats of Tomorrow When he 1Snt off makmg speeches NB C keeps hxm busy as one of thelr crack radxo announcers Well Admiral I had better close for now and get ready for rehearsal fYes I finally got that vocal part wlth Benny Goodman and h1s orchestra Q See you at our tenth annual reumon ln June Smcerely Betty l7 ,fs I ,f - 7 as H ! , . Cfaaa Adforg QCLI' CCLI' SEPTEMBER 9 1942 I am too txred to wrxte much tonlght as today was the first day of my Fresh men year at OLHS It may be fun ln the future but do Freshmen get shoved around' OCTOBER 16 1942 In1t1at1on day was hectxc We were dressed up m bonnets and bxbs and before our torture was over those horrld upperclassmen marched us around the athletxc field before the football team and v1s1tors It was such a long day OCTOBER 1 1943 Today xt was our turn to welcome those small t1m1d 1ns1gn1ficant Freshmen We swaggered past the mcommg swarm of youngsters wxth the lmpertment axr of havmg been through xt ourselves and knowmg xt all We succeeded ln making them feel very mfantlle ln thexr long stockxngs and plg ta1ls MARCH 31 1944 just as m sprmg a young mans fancy turns to love the Sophomore class turned to gxvmg a dance The decoratlve Bug Dance was a financlal suc cess but the Huntmgton fire stole the show FEBRUARY 2 1945 It was a proud class that stepped back to vlew the gym the mght of our Jumor Prom The gym looked llke a wmter wonderland wlth green trees and soft lxghts The swlsh of long gowns mmgled wxth the musxc of Ivan Whxtes Orchestra whxch played for the now sophlstxcated couples APRIL 2 1945 The blg day at last' Our New York tr1p shows tours subways parks eleva tors and mxdnlght snacks three full days of fun' SEPTEMBER 5 1945 Senzors of 1946 at last our full txtle was bestowed upon us NOVEMBER 9 1945 Talk about hustle and bustle you should have seen the semor gxrls dressmg for the Fashzon Show What Mr Powers could have done to New York wlth some of those gals It was a chance of a life t1me' NOVEMBER 16 1945 Class plctures arrxved today Eek' Need we say more JUNE 1 1946 Lookmg back on our semor year we certamly were a busy crew edltmg the Lymen ralsmg money to have lt prmted sponsorxng the annual Chrnstmas dance and then finally all too soon june Week JUNE 7 1946 Commencement Day caps and gowns wobbly knees tears and dlplomas perhaps there really IS somethmg in that old saying Partmg IS such sweet sorrow I6 0 I 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 . . , 1 ' as 11 ' , . 1 . . . . . . , 1 - ' 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . , . .
