The Student Council The Student Council was organized by Mr. Thorp in 1940 with the purpose of gaining a closer relationship between the student body and the faculty. Under the guidance of the Coun- cil's adviser, Mr. john Dane, a constitution was formulated and ratihed, outlining its functions. The chief accomplishments of the Student Council to date have been to preside over various assemblies, to regulate dates for social functions, to issue charters to new clubs. and to bring to the Coun- cil's attention ideas and motions set before them by fellow students.

The Lyme Lzght The Lyme Ligbtf which has been in circulation since Octo- ZX, ber, 1941, is the first newspaper Old Lyme High School has ever produced. It is not only edited by the students, but also published on a rotary duplicating machine. Several experiments were made with the production of the paper, starting with a magazine every six weeks, until the present method of weekly publication was reached. Miss Mary Walsh has been the sole adviser of The Lyme Ligbtf' and has carried staff members through in many a crisis in which the immediate production of the paper seemed almost impossible.
