SECOND ROW: Vernon Wood, John Bugbee, Shirley Saunders, Edythe Griffith, David Hoag. The Student Council The Student Council was organized by Mr. Thorp in 1940 with the purpose of gaining a closer relationship between the student body and the faculty. Under the guidance of the Coun- cil's adviser, Mr. john Dane, a constitution was formulated and ratihed, outlining its functions. The chief accomplishments of the Student Council to date have been to preside over various assemblies, to regulate dates for social functions, to issue charters to new clubs. and to bring to the Coun- cil's attention ideas and motions set before them by fellow students.
