She studied hard and got excellent grades and was very active in school activities and in sports. When Arlene Harrington went away for a visit, Dr. Bruce Douglas, a friend of Roy came to keep him company. Both men got more than they ' bargained for after Roy saved a young Hindu girl and she claimed him as her master, and his mother-in-law arrived for a visit a day early. The story centered around the attempts of Annabelle Logan, a governess, to murder Connie Ashton. It was apparent that Annabelle was in love with Connie’s husband, Charles, and wanted to do away with her in a vault where she hoped Connie would suffocate. Her attempts were foiled by Ricky Ashton who rescued Connie just in time. Annabelle was then accidentally locked in the vault herself to provide a fitting end to the play. Relaxing in the shade Miss Hollywood?” Senior Class Trip The Senior Class traveled to Aurora, Ohio on Tuesday, May 27. We visited Sea World of Ohio the first day. After we watched Shamu and the dolphins, the sea lions, penguins, and the ski and water show, some of us enjoyed playing in the Cap’n Kids World. Even though we were all a little older than 14, we still had a great time. We had dinner in our hotel. The Aurora Treadway Inn, and then some enjoyed bowling, swimming, tennis, or just running around. Some of us managed to pull ourselves out of bed for breakfast the next morning, and after we ate, we played a little more tennis and swam for an hour or so. At 11:30 a.m., we packed up and traveled to Geauga Lake, an amusement park similar to Cedar Point. Here we went on the rides, shopped in the gift shop, played Put t-Putt, ate at the many snack bars, and got very tired. We loaded up for home at 6:30 and arrived back at Old Fort at about 9:30 p.m. Most of us were pretty exhausted, but we’ll never forget the good times we had. Chaparones take a break. A Great Season The basketball team finished with a 19-5 overall record and 7-1 in the league to share the SCL championship with the Seneca East Tigers. Regular season play provided many thrills for Old Fort fans a? they watched the Stockaders knock off Bettsville twice, the defending SCL champs, and score over 90 points in eight different games, one in which they scored 131 points to break the school record. Led by the three starting seniors, Dave, John, and Steve, Old Fort had great hopes for the tournament games. In the first game of the sectional tourney, the Stockaders pulled out a hard fought game against Sandusky St. Mary’s winning by a score of 63-60. The second game saw Old Fort smoke the Carey Blue Devils, 106-68 to advance to the Bucyrus Sectional finals where a victory would give Old Fort another shot at Mansfield St. Pete. But before we could look ahead to St. Pete, we had to face Norwalk St. Paul, the sixth rated team in the state. The Stockaders and Flyers both came out fighting, but Old Fort proved the superior team defeating St. Paul 66-57. The team was presented the sectional trophy and the fans mobbed the players and celebrated a well-deserved victory. St. Pete was rated No. 1 in the state, but Old Fort nearly upset them in the first game of district action. Through pure determination the Stockaders came back from a halftime deficit of 15 points and held the Class A” player of the year to just two points. The final score was 55-52, St. Pete. This will certainly be a well-remembered season treasured by many for years to come. 92 I Reserve Basketball Steve Blue, Chris Ackerman, Dan Hoke, Bryon Fry, Roy Roth, John Riehm, Ron Bowers. OF Mr. Steve Smith 104 After the basketball season, some people found it hard to get into baseball. They were still living that last game over and over, but Coach Smith and his baseball team were looking to the future — to Columbus. They worked hard all season to get there and their efforts really paid off. For the third time in eight years, the Old Fort Stockaders traveled to the State Class A” Baseball Tournament in Columbus. Unfortunately, the team had a bad game against Russia and were eliminated, but we were all still very proud of our team. To be one of the top four teams in the state was certainly an honor in itself. The 1975 Baseball team finished with a 19-6 record, a Sectional Trophy, a District Trophy, a State Semi-finalist plaque, and many memories of a fantastic season. 105 Recollections Old Fort athletes tried hard this year, Tried hard to play the best they could, They gave up smoking, late dates, and beer. Worked so hard they became very good. In basketball there were good times and bad - We gave every team a fight. The St. Pete’s game made us very sad — We knew the best team didn’t win that night In track and cross-country we did very good Good in every meet. The athletes tried as hard as they could — It made us proud to see them compete. In baseball we made it to Columbus And even though we didn’t win, There was intense pride all among us — We were where some teams have never been In every sport we did excel — And when people mention ’75, Old Fort fans will stand up and yell You better believe, we were alive!’ : Robert Brickner 109 Board of Education DR. Some were practically dreams come true while others seemed to be nightmares. It was as if everything was an extreme. There was the anger and despair caused by the downfall of President Nixon as a result of Watergate, but there was the great sense of relief and hope when President Ford was sworn into office. The energy shortage caused many to wonder if they were being told the truth, but it waslsomething that affected everyone and seemed to bring people together. The events in the world were also of these two types. There was the problem of the Communist takeover of Southeast Asia, but there was also the great breakthrough in arms control with the Russians. These kinds of events carried over to life at Old Fort, too. We had a spectacular year in sports, but we saw our teams beaten in crucial tournament games. Many people made new friends this year but they also saw old ones leave themlThere were times when it seemed as if all the cares and concerns of the world had fallen onto the shoulders of one person or group. But there were also times of success and happiness that made these bad times a small part of life. And naturally there were times of personal success along with times of disappointment. Often people worked together like a machine and accomplished many things, while at other times people didn’t work together and ended up with only frustration and nothing done. For the Seniors it was the last year, finally. This in itself held both thoughts. Some were anxious to get into the world while others w ere regretting having to give up this comfortable life style. For the new children in Kindergarten it svas really great to be in school at last, but it also meant leaving their parents behind for a part of each day. Yes, it can be said of this year, ' These were the best of times, these were the worst of times.” $ ip - i W i r ■bmf I W M W WMWWi il MHM t cr 1
