k £lBL - ■ GC 977.101 SE50F, 1972 THE TRAIL OLD FORT HIGH SCHOOL OLD FORT, OHIO 1 Dedication Mrs. Lois Murray has given 11 years of her life to Old Fort School. She received her BA from Otterbein College. She has also attended Ohio University, Bowling Green State University and Heidelberg Col¬ lege. Here at school she leads the Language Depart¬ ment teaching Spanish l-IV and Latin l-IV. We dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Murray as a small token of our appreciation for her dedication to us throughout our high school days. We very firmly feel that Mrs. Murray is the greatest Jr. Class Advisor Old Fort will ever know. Her guidance has been in¬ fallible. We could never thank her enough for all she has done. Aunty Kate, not knowing that the old mill is the scene of a knife murder, wants to buy the mill and remodel it into a house, and this gives her pretty niece, Kate, and her rival boy friends a lot of problems, both in courting and detective work. The situation is further complicated because on this rainy night three nit-witted girls arrive--they are being taken to Berrydale, a mental rest home, by a strange Dr. Hooker who has lost his way in the storm. The Kampus Keyhole Future Homemakers of America i State Homemakers - Janiece Roth and Judy Bender. This year our F.H.A. organization ' s State Project, Know, Care, Do, involved youth as better citizens in the home, community, nation, and world. The Old Fort Chapter emphasized this National project: Make Time Work For You. Some of this year ' s activities were a speaker on early marriages, visiting with children and teenagers at Flat Rock Children ' s Home. At one meeting Dianah Petterson, our A.F.S. student, was our guest speaker. We usually have a few money making projects during the year, such as selling vanilla, all occasion candles. In March we sponsored a Skating Party and in April a bake sale. F.H.A. is a very well known organization. The girls work hard and the reward is great. You get a chance to meet many new people, to work with others, and you are learning how to improve yourself at all times. We believe that by joining this organization we will be turning out better homemakers for the future. At Christmas time, the Art Club sold items which they had made at their Art Club meetings and also a cheese assortment. 90 Sports 91 Varsity Basket Coach Tom Bise, Tom Whitman, Jerry Cantu, Dave Burks, Jim Burks, Jeff Fry, Steve Berlekamp, John Burks, Dave Omlor, Dan Terry, Rob Burkart, Bruce Lutz, Bill Ellis and Dave Jibilian, Managers. ball 1971 -1972 It looked like it could be a good season. We had the material, five returning from the pre¬ vious year ' s Varsity team and six up from Re¬ serve ball, but could we get it together ? The season got off to a slow start. In what was left of 1971 we had compiled only a 3-5 record. No matter what, we just could not seem to win. The new year seemed to bring new hope and spirit. In the next 11 games we lost only 3. Among those victories was a special one when we beat Vanlue 78-63. Van- lue had spoiled our chances in the regional tournament the previous year at Bowling Green. This win meant revenge and a hap¬ piness that wouldn ' t be forgotten. For the closing game of the season we handed a very strong Calvert team a setback 100-98. The Seniors couldn ' t have asked for a better game to remember as their last played at Old Fort High School. It was a nice way to end a sea¬ son of basketball. Now came the tourna¬ ments. We were ready and full of hope. Our opening game saw us go against North Balti¬ more at Fostoria ' s new high school. It was an easy win 100-59. The next game was certain to be more difficult than the first. We were to play New Riegel, fellow member of the SCL. In regular season play we had split contests; this was to be the deciding game. The game was one that wouldn ' t soon be forgotten by anyone who saw it. The pressure and spirit that had built up were tremendous. Every moment of the game was pure excitement. It was close down to the final buzzer. We all thought that we had it won but time did not allow it. We may not have won the game, but we were still winners in our own minds. It was a rough season in many ways, but in many ways it was also a good season not to be for¬ gotten. 93 Captains, Jeff Fry and Steve Junior, Tom Whitman Berlekamp with Coach Tom Bise.
