The first summer session was held in 1964. The six-weeks Typ¬ MR. ROGER E. GODDARD EXECUTIVE HEAD ing I class, instructed by Mrs. Helen M. Newman, received a good response. Also, a summer school for migrant children was held for six weeks. At the beginning of the new school year, Mrs. Lester Stiger, and Mrs. Arthur Mehaffey in¬ structed the three-month class for the migrant workers. All these excellent improve¬ ments were made possible by the voters of the Old Fort School Dis¬ trict, and the careful planning of the Old Fort Board of Education. MR. ALTON ZIMMERMAN MR. Senior Will We, the Seniors of 65, understanding that we are the most talented class ever to graduate from Old Fort High School, do hereby will the following: To the Juniors we will our supreme intelligence; hoping they will make more use of it than we did. To the Sophomores we will our great athletic and musical ability in hopes that they can use our near super-natural ability to a high degree of success. To the Freshmen we will our most priceless possession, our lockers, in hopes that with some kind of miracle they will have them cleaned out by the time they graduate. With great confidence in that famous lawyer, Mr. Joe Omler, we leave with him all the legal matters pertaining to our will. I, MARTHA ADELSPERGER, will my ability to sneak into the commercial room to Linda Huber in hopes she does as well as I did. I, KAY AUSTERMILLER, will my blue eyes and blonde hair to Susan Shaffer in hopes she can use them better than I did because blondes really do have more fun. I, JANET BOCK, will my ability to worry about nothing important to Bonnie Barto in hopes that she won ' t find time to use it. I, NANCY BYRNE, will my walking ability from the library to the study hall to Mr. Lutz, so he too can have a slim trim figure like I have. I, CHERYL DEEDS, will my marvelous way of not getting caught for talking all the time to Barbara Rau. I, ORPHA GARZA, will my luck in everything I do, to anyone who thinks he can improve it. I, SUE GILLMOR, will my ability to drive not faster than 40 M. P. H. to David Whitman, in hopes he does better than I did. This year saw a class of forty-two (42) students presenting the play, Rose of the East Side, having pictures taken, editing an annual, and preparing for our graduation day. Class Prophecy Some years ago, after graduation in 1965, the senior class started living a normal life. Let ' s go back and see what some of them did. Oh yes, first of all there was MIKE GABEL, who owned the greatest swine farm in the North. BOB STEYER had gotten jealous and was trying to bring on some real swine farming competition. They finally became partners later on. There was also BILL SHAULL, who was having trouble with his diseased beef cattle. This disease had to be stopped. One of Bill ' s truck drivers, PETE CANTU, saw his trouble so he recommended the best veterinarian, JOHN ZABLOCKI. The trouble was fixed when our government worker, JANET BOCK, came to inspect the farm. I remember that the business teacher, CHERYL DEEDS, was having trouble with her big business. She went to an accountant named RONALD HAUGH for help. There was little success here, so she went to the Public Accountant, DAN CANTU, who at the present time was helping the truck driver ED COLGATE, who worked for the FRED BOWERS Plant Nursery, plan his budget. Dan Cantu ' s IBM Operator, JEAN SUFFECOOL, solved Cheryl’s problem. MARTHA ADELSPERGER, Fred’s secretary, was computing the cost of the plant that was to give off enough breathing oxygen to supply at least forty people on a trip to the Universe. And if the berries were eaten by someone, he would feel and look twenty-five years younger. The chemistry and physics teacher, TOM ROTH, with the help of JERRY CUNNINGHAM had been experimenting with plants and had come up with this particular plant. The history teachers, MARSHALL BLUE and HAROLD ULMER, said that back in history there had never been such valuable experiments. The Plant indeed was very valuable because now in 1990 we are experiencing the most fantastic trip ever taken by the senior class of 1965. After getting all our classmates together, Dr. Roth brought in the berries from the plant and the seniors ate. Now we are at the age when we graduated. First we saw RONNIE JOHNSON, our mechanic working on the space ship which would take us on the trip to see the Universe. Also we saw STEVE LAIRD, the electrician, fixing the lighting in the ship. All the teachers--SHARON RENNINGER, LYNDA WILSON, KAREN WISE, DONNA ZIMMERMAN, DAN COLVIN and DAVID BRANDYBERRY--seem very busy passing on their knowledge to the rest of the class. We want the seniors well educated before the trip. Next we saw CYNTHIA TOLENTO and CARMEN GONZALEZ, the Fashion Designers coming in from Paris with the Space Suits they’ve made for each senior member of the class. KAY AUSTERMILLERwas busy as a physical education teacher getting everyone in good physical condition. The Congressman, TOM NICKEL, had approved the trip so everyone continued his duties. ROSALYN MOLYETT, medical and X-ray technician was now checking each member before the flight. Our ship was ready now. DORIS FRY, the stewardess, was trying to comfort everyone. ORPHA GARZA and GRACIE FLORES, the nurses are ready to look after any sickness that may arise from take-off. NANCY BYRNE and RITA MORTON are at their Speed Recording Secretary ' s Desks ready to record speed rates. SUE GILLMOR and SUSIE SHIEDLER, the altitude secretaries, are ready for recording also. Our pilots, BOB MESTREZ and CHARLES DERAN, are at their places starting the ship. We’re off at last! During the trip the race drivers, CHARLES LYNCH and RICHARD ZIMMERMAN, decide they want to run the ship; so they coax the pilots to let them take over the controls for a few minutes. The Universe is so exciting!! Two days have passed and it ' s now time to get back to our jobs on earth. On the way back when we made preparations for landing, we could see CHARLES WILBERT, the forest ranger, putting out a forest fire. The Class of ' 65 was so busy with preparations that they forgot to inform Charles about the trip. I, DAN CANTU, will my ability to get along with teachers to Ronnie Terry in hopes that he can use it. I, PETE CANTU, will my slow careful driving ability to Sue Mowery who could surely use it. We fully realize that without that support our yearbook would have had to curtail some of the features that make our book more interesting and desirable. This year ' s issue of The Trail sold nearly 400 copies and will be read by many times that number of people interested in the activities and accomplishments of our student body at Old Fort High School. The Trail Staff wishes to request that all our friends please mention The Trail when they make purchases from our advertisers. In that way we may continue to merit their support and at the same time provide them with a valuable advertising service.
