AY . u 'Ls-warn.: - :wan km.: QQQYQQS DEDICATIO -V-4444444 41 We, the Senior Class of 1958, dedicate this Trail to Mr. Luther +I Flack. He has spent fourteen years of his life working at Old Fort School 4, as the school custodian. We students appreciate the long hours he works at the school, keeping it clean, warm, and comfortable for all of us. From early morning to late at night, Mr. Flack can be found, diligently if and competently striving to make our school a better place in which stu- .K 41 'K 41 41 K 41 dents may learn. It is very fitting that we should dedicate this annual to one so dedicated to our school. At first some of these recollections are rather hazy, but when our minds begin to ponder over happenings in our school days at Old Fort, many memories come to us quite rapidly. On September 3, 1946, twenty-seven first graders began their school days at Old Fort. Most of us rode the school bus which was so much fun. It was fun to be looking out the windows instead of being outside watching other kids riding in the bus. When we arrived at school, we were greeted into the first grade by Mrs. Mosier. Of the original twenty-seven, twelve remain to graduate. They are Michael Frankart, Gerald Fry, James Gabel, Edward Kear, Charles Miller, Royce Overmyer, Mary Lou Depinet, Brenda Gillmor, Kay Gillmor, Susan Palmer, Betty Prenzlin, and Dolores Werner. In the second grade we started to have Arithmetic and to write. William Kittle joined our class this year. Mrs. Witter was our teacher. With Mrs. Biddle as our third grade teacher we started to study Geography. We also had a list on the black board every six weeks headed Something To Crow About. This was our honor roll. By the time we reached the fourth grade we were feeling pretty big for our classroom was on the second floor across from the study hall. Mrs. Rhoad helped us through this year. Our fifth year was spent with Mr. Bare as our teacher. This year we made six-week notebooks and had contests for the highest grades in six-week's tests. Our sixth year went past quite rapidly with Mrs. Cloutier as our teacher. We gave a party for our mothers in the spring. With our elementary schooling behind us, we entered Junior High. How exciting it was moving to different rooms for classes and being around the older students. Of course, like all seventh graders, we were quite annoying to them! Mr. Mehaffey was our home room advisor. Miss Robinson was our eighth grade advisor. In the summer preceding this year, Robert Kiger passed away. In the spring of the year we took the eighth grade tests. Eleven ranked in the upper twenty-five percent of the county. Receiving our eighth-grade diplomas, we graduated into high school. Now we were Freshmen. The Seniors formally initiated us into high school. Several new students entered our class from Clinton, Of these remaining to graduate were Norma Davidson, Bernice Goshe, Nancy Whitaker, William Hoppes, and Jerry Jacobs. This year we started entering high school activities. Our advisor was Miss Robinson. Mr. Swihart was our home room teacher. As Sophomores we were becoming more active in school activities. This year our high school basket- ball team won the county tournament championship for the second consecutive year. In January of our Sophomore year the elementary grades moved into the new building, relieving the school system of its crowded conditions. Gregory Hartenstein joined our class this year. Mr. Chaney was our class advisor. Our Junior year was quite exciting. We began to have more class activities. We received our class rings. Our class play May All The Lights Be Green was directed by Mr. Chaney. We planned a banquet for the Seniors using the Hawaiian Theme. We ushered the Seniors into Baccalaureate and Commencement, envying them in their caps and gowns. Mr. Austermiller and Mrs. Newman were our class advisors. Now as Seniors we realize our graduation is rapidly nearing. We have received our Senior pictures. We are busy publishing an annual. In the spring we will give a class play and plan to take a trip. Then down the aisles of the auditorium and onto the stage to receive our diplomas, ending our school days at Old Fort. From here, we will depart, some of us to continue our education in college, others to find jobs, We have had many pleasant memories of our school days. Some which will never be forgotten. E IOR CLASS PROPHECY It is the year 1985. We are about to take a trip around the world. As we take off in our atomic fueled airplane we hear a familiar voic,e saying, Fasten your safety belts, please. We look up to see our old classmate Nancy Whitaker. Nancy is the stewardess on the airplane. She tells us that Bill Kittle is one of the co-pilots of the plane but that he is unable to come and talk with us because we are in a storm and are about to make an emergency landing. We find that we have landed in Tokyo, Japan. We decide to visit one of their schools since we have to stay here awhile. As we enter one of the rooms we see the teacher to be none other than Susan Palmer. We chat awhile and then we go back to get aboard our plane for it is ready to take off again. After riding leisurely, our next stop is in Germany where we find Jerry Fry trying to teach the Germans to be better farmers. From Germany we go to Paris, France. Here we see Bernice Goshe who is now a famous model. She offers to show us around Paris and we gladly accept for we get a chance to talk with Jerry Jacobs who is Bernice's chauffeur. We then go from Paris to London. Here we come in contact with Betty Prenzlin who is the United States Ambassador to Great Britian. She tells us that if we go to Galiver Auditorium tonight we shall see Edward Kear receive a trophy for being the National track star. We told her thanks for telling us but we had to leave this afternoon. Once we were again seated comfortably in the plane we turn around to see Gregory Hartenstein sitting behind us. Gregory tells us that he is a salesman for one of America's largest manufacturing companies, Mi1ler's Many Mo1ds . He says that Charles Miller, who is the owner and his boss, would be very happy because of the business transaction which he had just completed. We enjoyed talking with Gregory until we had to get off in New York City. Here we find Dick Overmyer who is an interior decorator. He tells us that his work has often taken him into the homes of stage and television stars. From New York we went to Chicago where we found Norma Davidson who is the advertising manager of one of the great magazines for girls, Tai1s and Pals . Norma tells us that Dolores Werner is now a professor of Science at the University of Chicago. She says also that Dolores has an education which is equalled by very few women in the world. We tell her to wish Dolores the best of luck and we are again on our way. Our next halt is Iowa where we find Bill Hoppes the greatest corn growner in the whole state. Leaving Bi1l's we -meet James Gabel when we stop at a restaurant to get something to eat. James is the owner and the chief chef. After visiting for quite awhile we move on and finally reach Texas. Here we find Mike and Kay Frankart fthe former Kay Gillmor! living on a large ranch with their six little cowboys to keep them happy. We enjoy telling them about our journey but we decide we had better leave as supper time is fast approaching. We arrive in Hollywood the next day just in time to see Brenda Gillmor finishing up her latest movie. We enjoy visiting with her in her dressing room as long as her time permits. Then we went on to see the sights of the city. The next day we go back to Sacramento where we see our next door neighbor, Mary Lou Depinet, anx- iously waiting to hear about our trip. Mary Lou is a physical education teacher at one of the high schools here in Sacramento. After hearing of our adventure she agrees that it surely must have been nice to see all our old classmates V once again.
