Students Achieve Distinction Recipient of the 1969 D A R Citizenship award is Miss Nancy Ramsey, who also was a candidate for the Mary Valedictorian of the Class of ’68 was Miss Johnsie Elliott. Miss Katherine Reynolds Scholarship offered by the University of Ethel Sword was salutatorian. N.C. at Greensboro. Eight Juniors were chosen on the basis of their academic average to serve as marshals in the 1968 graduation exercises. They were Katie Allison, Chief Marshal Nancy Ramsey, Jimmy Brown, selected from our Glenna Allison, Carolyn Bryant. Second row: Jimmy Brown, Bill Nichols, Steve Effler, and county to attend the American Legion Chief Marshal Justine Williams. Boys’ State, was one of two delegates chosen to represent N. C. at the 1968 Boys’ Nation in Washington, D. C. Jimmy is shown here enjoying a chat 22 with Rep. Roy Taylor.

Brown and Ann Burgin—selected by the members of the Senior class as Best-All-Around. Merit Honors Abilities must be cultivated if they are to become talents. For their toil in making their skills superior, Robert Twitty and Evon Kimbrell were chosen by their classmates as Most Talented. Their awareness, understanding, and perception have not only won Steve Effler, Justine Williams, and Nancy Ramsey the respect and admiration of both teachers and fellow-students, but also the highest scholastic average as of November, 1968, and the honor of being Most Intellectual. 21
