An elderly couple and a representative of an age gone by were prize winners in the annual costume judging. Brandishing two humorous stage props, Charlie Howery steps up to the micro- phone to weave a tale with riotous effects. Halloween Carnival The Halloween Carnival, sponsored annually by the PTA, began with a dinner in the school caf- eteria. The gym opened with booths for younger visitors. Later a well-presented stage show featuring local talent drew much approval from the packed house. The Sabres, a local band, entertain both students and guests as they await the coming festivities. Pearl Grant, as Minnie Pearl of the Grand Ole Opry, captivates the audience with her folksy humor. Flaxen curls and awe-inspiring figure, Jethrine accompanys her Adonis-like husband, Homer”, in a duet, Let Me Go, Blubber . Serving as directors and members of the chorus, Lenore Padgham and Elenore White perform as the Gold Dust Twins .

For the first time at Old Fort the various clubs were represented in the Homecoming Court. They were Judy Crawford, Student Council; Linda Wilson, F.F.A.; Judy Jenkins, F.T.A.; and Linda Lytle, F.H.A. Court attendants were still a center of attraction at the dance. It was a big night for the girls as well as for the team and Old Fort ' s fans. 23

The display of talent resulted in an evening of rewarding entertainment and down-to-earth fun. The enthusiastic applause drawn from the audience compensated the cast for all the hours spent in diligent rehearsal. A coveted position of honor for the elementary grades is the spot of Prince and Princess of the Carnival. This year the proud bearers of the title are Beverly Early and Mike Ramsey. Those turning out for the Halloween supper were not disappointed in the delicious meal of ham and vegetables . Representing the high school, Harvey Smith and Diane Smith reign over the festivities as King and Queen.
