Old Fort has its share of beauty and brains as exemplified by those participating in the Free Enterprise parade. In the Beginning . . SEPTEMBER The eagerly awaited and sometimes dreaded opening days begin with noisy chaos in the halls. New friends, new faces, new teachers, and new classes add to the disorder. Work and fun begin, and everyone knows the year is in full swing. Adding to honors earned by OFHS students, the land judging team of the vocational agriculture department won the district contest of the Mountain View Federation.

Here, studious juniors seek a better under- standing of the political and cultural foundation of the nation. and College Day Seniors who realize the necessity of a college edu- cation receive an opportun- ity to ask puzzling questions of representatives from numerous colleges on Col- lege Day at Pleasant Gar- dens. The guidance co- ordinator for McDowell County Schools arranged this service to aid students in choosing a college and career to suit their needs. 10
