- 1 , ' ORY do 5 HIST we , avg.. sit A 5 aggdifvalx , We started to school in 1938 and were under the supervision of Miss Mary Burgin, Miss Beulah Nichols and Miss Della Williams. Our most interesting activity was the building of our little house. In the second grade we had as our directors Miss Stacey, Miss Hemphill and Miss Biddix. The third year was the year we had our multiplication table. This year was a very busy one for us. Our teachers were Miss Laura Hicks and Miss Hensdale. In the fourth grade we prepared boxes to send to the boys at Moore General Hospital. Mrs. Tolllver and Miss Hartley were very proud of us. In the fifth grade we had as our supervisors Miss Icard and Mrs. Bradley. Although we had to work hard, we had fun. In the sixth grade we had our first experience with the Student Council. Although we d1dn't like it much, Mrs. Kanlpe and Miss Hemphill tried to help us along our way. Then came the time when we were in the seventh grade. That year we had more to do with the Student Council. The president was Elsie Johnson. Our supervisors were Miss Long and Mrs. Lonon. Miss MacCracken was our director in the eighth grade. We had fun, esp- ecially when Barbara Hogan and she had a little argument. Barbara always was the brave one. We were looking forward to being freshmen the coming year. Our Freshman year was a busy one. We had as our director, Mr. Moore. Our officers were: President, Lucille Grindstaffg Vice-President, Patsy Grimes: Secretary-Treasurer, Dan Early. This year Eddie and Ernie Lackey decided they would join us. We were still striving to reach our goal. Mr. Woodward tried very hard to help us reach this goal in our Sopho- more year. A few of our classmates thought they knew enough about school, so they decided to try married life. Among these were: Betty Vess, Patsy Grimes and Barbara Hogan. Then we became the distinguished Juniors of Old Fort High School. Mrs. Painter was our teacher. At the latter part of the year the Juniors gave a play entitled nDon't Darken My Doorn which was a great success. This year, we entertained the Seniors at a Banquet with the help of Mrs. Painter. It was a very nice banquet. Most of the Juniors took part in the Graduation Exercise. The Marshalls were: Chief, Lucille Grindstaff, Elsie Johnson, Clara Kelly, Doris Davis, Doris Silver and Mabel Tabor. Class officers were: President, Edward Carven Vice-President, Jack Hicks, Secretary-Treasurer, Carolyn Byrd. At last the year has come for which we have strived and worked so long. We are now the dignified Seniors of Old Fort High School. Our director for this final year is Mr. Woodward and we can never forget this year because it has been a very busy and exciting one. Our Class officers this year are: President, Edward Carverg Vice-President, Carolyn Byrdg Secretary-Treasurer, Dan Early. In October we received our rings and were proud of them. We have had many outings this year and expect to have many more in the spring. On one of our trips we went to Mt. Mitchell. This was a very excit- ing trip.
