BOYS' BASKETBALL The Okoboji Orioles, coached by John G Geertsema, played a rough 19 game schedule Of these 19 games Okoboji came out on top in 10 of them and lost 9 The total points scored for Okoboji 1029 while their opponents scored 972 Okobo 1's average points per game was 56 7 com pared with their opponendi 5 points per game Leading scorers for Okoboji were Roskens with 20 2 points per game and Nate Gould with 13 8 points per game The most outstanding game and victory of the '53 'p season was the 33 to 26 win over Milford It was the first time Okoboji had beat en them in 6 years This was the second game of the season for us and M1lford's first We d1dn't get to play them again The one heartbreaker of the season was the 55 53 loss to Ocheyedan in an overtime game This game was in the pa for us, or so we thought at the end of the third quarter when we led 26 We were a bit too sure of ourselves and they caught up with us at the end of the game They then went on to win the game 55 53 in the overtime period That taught us our lesson All in all, we enjoyed a very successful season and we wish the best of luck to the teams in the future years GIRLS' BASKETBALL The girls ended their third year of basketball with a 3 win 12 loss record They showed better ball handling and better shooting ability than in the preceeding two years but it was still not enough f6r them to compete successfully with the more experienced teams that they played The girls beat Superior twice, once in a regular scheduled game beat Everly in a thrilling overtime game,7O 69 Leading scorers this ear were Welle with 25 6 points per game and R Williams with an 18 point average As the girls gain more experience, so should they win more games, so look for better and better girls' basketball teams to come from Okoboji We wish them all the luck in the world in the future years N N Q ot n .ff I -eh with a score of 6u-55 and once in the County Tourney 62-53.
